The NBA board of governors are expected to vote to keep it.

What do you say, yay or nay?

Vote and discuss.

Meh. It’s more basketball. The reality is that no 7-10 is winning the NBA championship anyway. The only possible impact is that because of match ups you may see a 1 or 2 seed get exposed earlier in the playoffs than they might have with a different match up. More games = more money. I want my team to spend 150 million a year. We all want that investment from them. So let em find ways to make more coin. Fine by me.

I voted potato salad because of the bacon bits. Bacon makes everything better.

As for the play in. I'm good either way. I like it for keeping fans who may start looking towards next season engaged late in the season and for putting young, developing teams in playoff situations. Also good if a team had a lot of injuries, but couldn't get healthy quickly enough to grab a playoff spot.

But, I also get that it's not really fair for the 7 and 8 seeds to have to play more games to keep a playoff spot they already earned.

In the end, it's more money for the league, so I doubt it'll end any time soon.

But those 7 and 8 seeds only "earn" the chance to get smoked in the first round or very rarely the 2nd. They aren't winning anything important. And I say this with the Ws being the 8 seeds year before last and getting bounced from the playoffs. So what?

That's why I'm good with whatever they decide. If they decide to keep it, which it sounds like they are, I will enjoy the games.

If they decide not to, I doubt I'll be lamenting the lack of a play in tournament.

It's bad enough that a team has to defend it's playoff spot after 82 games, but having that defense in a single game is a real slap in the face. Ultimately as mentioned above, these teams are fighting for a likely quick or near sweep in the first round, so it's all much ado about nothing. Adding more games to determine the least likely playoff odds is questionable at best. If you want more money, make the finals longer.

Im ambivalent BUT if they keep it id prefer

Best out of 3

Teams play every day with no off days til the 7 and 8 seeds are decided

That actually gives the 1 and 2 seeds a big advantage

They'd get more time off and the other teams would be more worn down

Then maybe we wouldn't see teams semi tank at the end of the year for better matchups

I voted yes, but wouldn't be heartbroken if they scrapped it.

I was dead set against it when first announced thinking too many teams are in the post season already with over half the teams participating. But now that it has run a couple of years I really like it. The format the created gives an advantage to the 7 & 8 seed, that they should get, and it does slightly prevent tanking at the end of the season for those !marginal teams not in full rebuild, season along tank mode. And, heck, it's fun and it's more basketball!

NBA playoffs has always been way too much basketball.

Now it's just ridiculous. They should go back to the 1st round being best of 5.

This would be my ultimate compromise.

Keep the play-in but shorten the regular season to 80 and the first round to best of five.

Fewer games means less money for owners. When have they ever voluntarily voted for less money? Play in is more money!

You want fewer games, the players will have to take a salary cut, because owners sure aren't, and I do t think players will either.
