FTR, both with and without beans have their role. The no bean makes a killer base for dip. Add some cheese and maybe jalapenos or whatever you like to punch shit up with and it's a good alternative to the salsa based dips. For actually making a meal out of it you gotta add beans. Otherwise it's just runny sloppy joe without the bread.

I tend to agree with you. I like chili both ways. When I make it I usually make it with beans, especially if the chili is the main course. However sometimes I make it with no beans. usually of I plan on using it for a dip, or on hot dogs or pasta or eggs in the morning.
