Another question...

Ok, the wife has a copy of "Bootlegger's Boy". We have been trying to catch The King, Coach Switzer, at any number of events to get him to sign it. It hasn't happened but I just read an article that says you can actually call and make an appointment to meet Barry at his house and he'll sign anything.

Does anyone here know how to get a hold of Barry? I'm trying to get THE Christmas gift for her and that would be it.

If not, no biggie. I'll just go cruise around Norman...

Here is an article from Men's Journal on the King, it's pretty good. I saw it on TFB.
Sounds like you can just visit him if he is home or around campus.

Once I almost ran into Barry, literally. I was driving south past the stadium early one evening on the way to a friend's apartment when he came running out of the south end of the stadium...didn't even look to see if there was any traffic I guess. At first I didn't know who it was because he had his head down and I laid on the horn...only when he looked up and smiled did I realize who it was. He waved at me like it was no big deal. I almost busted out laughing myself as I just motioned him on across the street.

Barry Switzer Laughs Last

Okay, so, sooner78wakeboard posts the link to a great story about what a great guy Switzer is, how he's always welcoming to fans just showing up.

I go to google, looking for an address where I can mail the book. I find a fan mail address in Norman. Long story short, I go to that address and, sure enough, it's Barry's home address. Coach Switzer signed the book, standing on his front porch in his bathrobe. I apologized about 800 times and he just laughed. "Hell, son, this time of year people knock on the door at midnight and the UPS guy practically lives here", as he points to two boxes on the porch.

What a nice guy!!

That is awesome!! Thanks for sharing! Barry Switzer is straight up legit. You had me cracking up. I guess that all the stories really aren't just stories. Switzer is just an all around welcoming guy.
