It's not the Marlies have been producing quality NHL players at a high rate.

Eakins may end up a good NHL coach but I really don't see the hype around this guy.

He would fit in perfectly with Vancouver. I don't think there's a coach in the league who's done less with so much talent other than Vigneault. At least Bylsma won 1 Cup in Pittsburgh. He should have been able to win more.

I thought he was a good fit because the canucks need to get younger and play younger players on a regular basis as Mike Gillis said at seasons end. But that gets put to the wayside now after hearing Eakins wanted to coach a younger team anyways

More importantly, Eakins is supposedly a great communicator. I dont really think he would have bashed heads or been in some great controversy with the veteran core of the canucks. Eakins is basically where Dan Bylsma was before he got hired. That worked out ok for Pens ... initially (lol)

well ... the recent past might see Bylsma get fired by the Pens and lo and behold who would become the frontrunner for a Canucks job according to Botchford? yup Dan Bylsma





/dont know if its "damage control" but Botchford says the reason Eakins was brought in for interview #2 (and why Gillis is STILL going to be interviewing up to 5 other coaching candidates) was for "information gathering" ... to get the goods on a coach who will be with the opposition ... Gillis should just call the NSA
