15*, Bama Please! Now that there is a real playoff in place starting in 14', there needs to be an asterisk on at least 5 of the "popularity championships" the Crimson Tide faithful like to claim as..."Championships"

1926.....played an undefeated Stanford in the Rose Bowl and it was a TIE!, yet voted Bama #1!
1941.....didn't even win the SEC, yet voted Champion!
1964.....lost to Texas in the Orange Bowl, yet voted Champion!
1965.....9-1-1 record, and jumped from #4 to #1 after bowl game...voted Champion!
1973.....lost to #3 ranked ND in the Sugar Bowl, and still was voted Champion?

Bama faithful, I have you with 10 Championships and the one in 2011 is being generous...because, you shouldn't have even been playing against LSU in that game...

Don't get me wrong ... people care in the manner of history and tradition. But anyone who chest thumps over a NC won when they were in diapers or before they were born are generally either ignored or laughed at.

Let programs claim them ... who really cares. We live in a very different era of CFB, thus most of us just take them with a grain of salt to begin with.

I'm a big fan of the Tide. But what I don't understand is why Alabama jacks around with (fill in the number) national championships when all anyone really cares about is consensus NC's. Claiming the rinky dinky ones cheapens the real ones. OU could claim umpteen hermaphrodite national championships too but they don't. OU only claims 7 which are legitimate, consensus NC's. Alabama has more than anyone else even if they only claim the legitimate ones. And at the rate they are going, nobody is going to catch them either.
