Donaldson: .284/.400/.552, 34 HR, 153 wRC+
Machado: .307/.358/.561, 34 HR, 139 wRC+

Donaldson's been a better hitter by a good margin. Machado has a higher BA, but even with that, Donaldson still has 42 points of OBP on him. Donaldson's ISO is actually higher, so it's not like Machado's hitting for more power either.

Machado might be the better defender (especially playing some SS), but Donaldson is a pretty good defensive 3B. And going by WAR, Donaldson rates ahead of Machado... albeit barely.

Donaldson - .284/.400/.552, 112 R, 34 HR, 92 RBI, 95 BB, 151 OPS+, 6.7 WAR
Machado --- .307/.358/.561, 98 R, 34 HR, 90 RBI, 45 BB, 137 OPS+, 6.6 WAR

How exactly is Machado having a better season?

I didn't realize a few of his numbers were that good. That's cool...throw in Donaldson. I stand corrected.

Houston is 3 1/2 games back for the wildcard.

That sounds a lot better than when you complete the picture. four teams ahead of them, one tied with them and one just a half game back. It's not over, but some crazy shit would have to go on for the Astros to make the playoffs.

Donaldson's been a damn good player for a while now. I don't think it's a stretch to say he's been the Best Player Not Named Mike Trout over the last four years.

IDK if these numbers show either one being better... Don't forget that Toronto is the better offense with 12 more runs scored in one less game...

3 teams ahead of them actually for the last spot and 2 of those teams (Balt/NY) along with Toronto and Boston will all be beating up on each other. They just have to take care of their own business.

Obviously, those errors didn't count because they were National League errors.
Still makes me sour that Gordon was essentially DQ'd for missing a couple months due to injury but Cespedes wins it while playing half the season in the other league... then looks like a fool in the WS. lol

The Royals won the World Series. As an Indians fan, I'd like to politely invite you to shut the fuck up about Gordon not winning a gold glove. Thank you.

No Ortiz? Not sure how Encarnacion can be ahead of him.
