This Red Sox team is going nowhere this year. They’ve basically treaded water since the hot start to the season.

And I don’t know how much more Cora needs to see of Kikè batting leadoff to realize it isn’t working. Move Verdugo to leadoff. Move everyone else up a slot and drop Kikè to 9th already.

23-19 since the big streak, which is around 88-89 wins over a full season. I would gladly take that. Anyone expecting 90+ wins and a division title are going to be disappointed. I expected around .500 coming into the season and they're 10 games above .500 in June.

But there is work to be done. Kikè's fine but I would like to see them get another OF (preferably one with OBP skills) so they can keep Kikè's bat in the infield. It's hard to swallow Dalbec's 75 wRC+ at 1st and while I'm not ready to give up on him, I think he could use some time in AAA to work on his strikeouts and they get a 1st baseman that hits free agency after the season. C.J. Cron? I can't complain too much about the pitching staff's performance (109 ERA+ and 7th in AL in ERA after last year's debacle), but there's still not a lot of depth and the rotation is probably going to see some regression in home runs allowed. The bullpen makes me nervous with the walks.

I think I had them at 84-86 wins(?) in the preseason, so they are definitely exceeding expectations. They will be clearing a lot of payroll soon and will be much more dangerous in 2022 and beyond with some cheap/young talent on the way, as well.

If they continue to tread water, I wonder if they become sellers at the deadline? They have some great pieces they could flip for prospects(JDM, Barnes, Eovaldi, Richards...others) and I wonder how they balance that out.

Big win. Rays started out the season going 5-1 vs the Yanks....they are 2-4 since then.

Just about time to tear it all down. They have five #3-#4 starters(who are mostly overachieving, too). The bullpen is still mostly terrible, as well.

And I feel like Cora could watch Kikè and Marwin go 0-100 and he’d keep running them out there because they’re “his guys”.

Yanks attempting to win 2 straight series off the Rays, for the first time in what feels like 10 years.
