"Red Sox get to play the Reds" - @DirtDirtDirt

meanwhile, the Yanks lose 2 of 3 to a last place team

As i stated Friday, the Jays would would win at least one of the 3 in that series, the Red Sox would never lose to a minor league team, and the division would be wrapped up this weekend....Once they lost Friday, the foot was off the gas, it was over.......

And forgotten horrible decision making by O'Brien. Challenging the pass from Brady to Gronk at the end of the 3rd quarter. If they won the challenge, Pats punt from Houston's 46. If they lose the challenge, Pats punt from the Houston 38. Lost a timeout for nothing.

I missed it, I also heard about them running down the end of the game to 2 seconds or something?

Wonderful weekend for me. Sox take care of business. Yankees lose 2 out of 3. Pats win and Liverpool gets a crucial 3 points away.

Unfortunately, we are really down to one playoff race now. Twins took care of business and have put that 2nd Wild Card race to bed. Just the NL 2nd wild card spot is up for grabs.

And that NL Wild Card spot should be closer, but the Cardinals lost 2 of 3 to the Pirates, Brewers lost 3 of 4 to the Cubs, and Rockies split with the Padres.

Indians have a 2.5 game lead over the Astros for best record in the AL. That's the only other "race" that sorta matters. I guess the Dodgers and Indians race for best record in baseball matters if the meet in the World Series.

I had a great weekend as well. Red Sox sweep, Michigan won a tricky road game, and the Eagles won on a 61-yarder.

you played the Mets

You played the Phillies for a week, a perennial doormat

Mets ended up being bad, but they were coming off back to back postseasons, and a WS appearance

and now they're probably not going to come close to a postseason return anytime soon. Mets pitching can only get better, but there's a lot of uncertainty after Syndergaard/deGrom.

Yeah they got the ball back with 23 seconds left, completed a 21 yard pass and let 20 seconds run off the clock before calling the time out. Gave them 3 seconds at their own 46 as opposed to 10-12 seconds. If they completed another pass to the sidelines, they could have tried for a long field goal to tie it.

Let's make it "fast forward to 2021" then

He gets steamrolled every postseason

He goes to the postseason SOLELY on the merits of playing in a God awful division

He is supposed to be some QB whisperer, he has had 9 QB's in 3 years, and he just had an entire preseason to name a starting QB, and he yanked him after one half of football

That guy is as bad as they come

The strength of that team, the defense, has very little to do with him

Exactly. He isn't a good coach

They are a mess (apologies to mr and mrs Hu).....That was the quickest window ever............Goes to show, banking on building a franchise on arms, as fragile as they all are, instead of strong position players, is a dangerous game

i think you are forgetting the running games:

2014: 1st in attempts, 5th in yards
2015: 5th and 15th
2016: 6th and 8th

theyve been a top 8 running team on average

it aint just defense.

There's no guarantees with pitchers ever and the Mets may serve as a rather extreme example of it, unfortunately. Look how much Harvey's fallen off.

2015: 2.71 ERA, 8.9 K/9, 1.8 BB/9, 0.9 HR/9, 1.02 WHIP, 3.24 xFIP, 4.3 WAR in 189.1 innings
2016: 4.86 ERA, 7.4 K/9, 2.4 BB/9, 0.8 HR/9, 1.47 WHIP, 4.11 xFIP, 0.0 WAR in 92.2 innings
2017: 6.60 ERA, 6.5 K/9, 4.5 BB/9, 2.0 HR/9, 1.66 WHIP, 5.29 xFIP, -0.7 WAR 88.2 innings

Hopefully Syndergaard doesn't suffer a similar fate and keeps mowing batters down.

Thankfully we have some solid position guys in place now...if only THEY don't turn out to be so fragile. Conforto looks like a solid corner and a good bat but he's already gotten hurt this year. Rosario and Smith should anchor the infield but we're still weak at catcher, CF, and left. Have decent fill-ins at 2nd and 3rd but nothing great.

Have loved having Cespedes for these last couple of seasons but he's fragile and inconsistent, plus at 31 he's already one of the oldest guys on the roster.

Don't know how many of you saw that in saturday's game, Syndergaard pitched the first inning and then Harvey came on in relief. It was bizarre to say the least. I was hoping they would yank Harvey after he pitched a decent 2nd. At least he didn't factor in the decision, but allowed 3 runs in four innings.

Knew he was supposed to return soon, glad he's back on the mound.

Didn't realize Wheeler went down for the season. His future outlooks seems rather iffy
