I think you might be right on that. Everything Cherington touched turned to gold in his first year as GM. He probably started thinking it would always be that easy. Agreed. I didn't understand the need for both of them at the time. But the offense was so bad last year, I can see why he thought this was necessary. Getting rid of Middlebrooks and Nava and adding Panda and Hanley looked like a huge plus. Except that it wasn't!
