We're going to love Patrick pretty soon here as he rings one off the iron and made it look pretty easy too.
He does the little things well beyond his age. Incredible passer. He is getting chances and it's only a matter of time before the goals start.

Ok, I brought the same league back. It's probably easier that way, considering I have 28 player teams set up with 22 stat categories. I have it arranged for only 8 teams like last season, but can add more. Hopefully that is the case too.

This is downright embarrassing
I'm at the point where I wonder if they even work the powerplay at practices.
Another 0-5. Hopefully we get the ball rolling on special teams because the first 2 PP's last night we gave up more shots than we got.

Nice play to win it. Gee with the set up and TK with the goal from an unreal angle. It looked like TK made an effort to shoot first pass second last night.

How bad is Couts on breakaways?

Bill Meltzer points it out as well, but Patrick's skating has concerned me. I expected it to be better. Hopefully it's just a product of the surgery recovery and lack of playing time, but it definitely needs to be better if he's going to be more than Couturier 2.0

i agree with this and hope its just him getting familiarized with a new system and getting his wind after a summer layoff.

As the preseason winds down, here are my final thoughts on roster moves:

At forward, Leier, Laughton, Lindblom and Patrick have played well enough to stick. Read, Weise and Vecchione are the bottom 3 for me, and 2 of those guys need to be sent down (or traded). Vecch is the obvious one being waiver exempt, and I still go with Read as the 2nd. He has not done enough to show he still belongs and his contract is up at the end of the year. We'll still be stuck with Weise, but at least he can rotate in when a more physical presence is needed.

On D, I'm still torn. As much as Sanheim has improved over the last 3 games, given the Flyers poor PP showing thus far I think I'd still rather see him sent down to start with the idea of having him further develop as a #1 PP d-man. They can then bring him back up when he's learned what he can at the AHL level. On the other hand, cripes I just don't know how much more I can stomach of seeing MacDonald out there. He's just not more than a #7 on any decent team.

I think it was the same surgery G and Ghost had before last year. Ghost, especially, looked some much faster in the 2nd half of the season. Patrick's passing ability at 19 is very impressive.

Just saw Vecchione was sent down. 2 cuts to go. Leier v. Read? Sanheim v. Hagg/Manning? It also looks like we are about $725k under the cap with 2 cuts to go.

I must say that Hagg didn't impress me that much in the 2 games ive seen him.

Well, he certainly hasn't stood out but I think that's ok for a d-man. I'd rather not notice Hagg than notice all of MacDonald's mistakes. While Hagg has made fewer really nice plays (offensively and defensively) than Morin or Sanheim, he has also made fewer mistakes. Manning may actually end up being the odd man out, with MacDonald as the #7.

If Read makes it over Leier it will be a crime.

I think this might happen where McDonald wins out because of experience over Manning
