Which core? Giroux, Couturier, and Voracek? They're all on pace for near 90 points. What more can they do? Sure they have defensive lapses like Voracek giving up the OT goal, but these games wouldn't even be getting to OT without them.
We are in last place with all of those guys on pace for near 90 points. We have an ungodly bad record since the 10 game winning streak and the core has been in place for a while now and we still stink. They have gone through several coaches and several coaching personalities, maybe its time to get all around players on this team instead of just offensive ones. Couts get a pass since he can play 2 way hockey.

I'm blaming the coach way before i'm blaming 3 guys on pace for 90 points. That's all I'm saying. Not saying they're infallible, some of their defensive miscues are glaring, but trading Giroux or Voracek sets this team back a heck of a lot farther than firing Hakstol would IMO. They have what, like 4 goals from someone other than those 3 guys in the past 10 games?

How many times can we blame the coach. This core has lasted at least three to 4 coaches. We had Lavi who goes to cups with several teams and we let him go . Even he couldn't get these guys going. Cant keep blaming the coach.

Yes, we need more secondary scoring, but we've scored an average of three goals per game over the last five games. That's enough offense to expect to win a few of those games.

Mostly what's killing us right now is the inability to kill penalties with 9 power play goals given up over those five games. That and just a horrific clutch gene as of late. Whenever the game is tight or there's not much time left, we choke. You could also just call it a lack of killer instinct.

Fix the penalty kill, show a little more discipline and have that killer instinct offensively and we are a good team as currently assembled.

I don't think we're as far off as this string of losing makes it look, we're just very short on confidence when it comes to closing out games. All of these losses have been extremely competitive hockey. Essentially, 6 of these 7 straight losses have been by one goal.

Devils and Isles have passed us by and even Vegas is better than we are. It wouldn't be so bad if while we rebuild at the same time as the Islanders and Devils we stay even or ahead of them but i see teams getting better and us getting worse.

How can Vegas take 2nd, 3rd and 4th line players from each team and turn that into the 2nd highest scoring team in the Nhl? That isn't going to last...Lol

I don't think the Devils and Islanders can sustain their current pace either.

This assessment can be reevaluated later in the season or at the end altogether.

We're a lot better than our record shows, I am confident in that much.

@awaz is on a roll with his assessment on the coaching, this goes back to last year, what was the excuse then? I agree, we either win or lose 6-5 or 1-0 but we obviously can't play that system with our players. IE it needs to change.

Coaching?

Ok, so Gerard Gallant is their head coach. The Florida Panthers, a team with a lot of young talent, fired him just last season after only 22 games...Lol I guess he was shit way back then and now he's a God.

Or maybe they shouldn't have fired him?

His Panthers were 11-10-1 through 22 to start that season.

They are 8-12-2 through 22 to start this season.

Maybe they should fire whoever is coaching them now...Lol

Well, we're going to get yet another look at our Flyers with a two goal lead in the third period after a pretty dominant middle frame there for us. Took it to them late in a big way. Pretty sure we hit iron at least five times, only one of which went in.

Really nice to see Simmonds and Giroux getting physical with Criesby in the dying seconds too.

I want to see us quit fooling around and come out looking to score more goals. If not, you can bet your ass this thing is headed to OT at 3-3.

I’m ok with sitting Martel defending a lead. But what in the flying fuck is Hakstol doing putting dale fucking weise out there!? He is, without question, the worst player on your roster. And you’re double shifting him. Y’all can get the fuck out of here defending him.

Wow. Shocking. Give up all the momentum with that weise shift and they score off the ensuing draw.

Dave Hakstol Postgame: we made it to OT and got the point. That’s our goal.

Lol It doesn't matter what lead we have and how much time is left in the game, we're going to fuck it up. This shit is absolutely unreal right now. That two goal lead to start the third period was gone within two minutes, easily.

Then we choke away a late 4-3 lead on a great goal by Raffl.

If this continues, they'll have to fire Hakstol, but this absolutely is not all on him. At some point, our players need to stop being a bunch of pussies and finish a fucking game the right way.

That’s what they get for sitting back after raffl’s goal. Could see it coming from a mile away.

We've now blown 10 leads in the last 6 games combined, two of them tonight and several of them by two goals. We had a lead at one point in every game and lost them all.
