These start getting interesting with conference play in full gear
1. San Diego State - Still the obvious #1, now that San Diego State is in conference play they once again look dominant as they easily beat UNLV...The train keeps rolling as they play Boise State this week.
2. Colorado State - Easily beat Utah State on the road in a game that was other by halftime, which is pretty impressive.
3. Utah State - sure they lost, but it was to a team ahead of them in these rankings, Utah State faces Wyoming in a game that will show us more of where they stand.
4. Wyoming - They had a bye week, and take on Utah State this week.
5. New Mexico - Another team that had a bye week, New Mexico takes on Fresno State in a game that could tell us if the Air Force performance was a fluke.
6. Air Force - Poor Air Force, can't seem to catch a break. They made a comeback to lose by 3 to Navy in an absolutely thrilling game we all missed. They've played well against good teams but that 1-4 record had me considering a drop, much needed game against UNLV next.
7. Boise State - Actually looked capable for 3 offensive drives against BYU, which is still better than the alternative. A reminder that BYU is bad by the way, and a rough game against San Diego State is next.
8. Fresno State - They've looked pretty solid lately and they're 3-2. We don't know much about this team yet except they're better than the bottom of the conference but worse than two of the best teams in the country. We will learn more as they play New Mexico this week.
9. UNLV - They were blown out by San Diego State, but what did you expect? Air Force is yet another tough game.
10. Nevada - Can you believe it? It has happened, Nevada has actually won a football game, it was very much out of nowhere but here we are. They play Colorado State next so they will return to losing.
11. Hawai'i - And this is the team that managed to play bad enough to lose to Nevada, after the 2-0 start, Hawai'i has looked simply awful. Now this week we get the battle to find out which team is the worst in the Mountain West.
12. San Jose State - Seeing that this is the team that Hawai'i plays this week, San Jose State lost one again, this time to Fresno State. This is a rare chance to get another win before November but they're going out to the island.
