Serena playing poorly. She'd better wake up.

Kerber is playing about as well as she can, and it's enough right now.

Serena's scream on the love-15 point at 5-3 was a little much. Hope she doesn't end up getting a hindrance call at some point.

Damn! Kerber: 6-4

Serena starting to click a little more with the backhand, so we'll see if she can keep this momentum going.

And seriously, I apologize for being rude earlier. We need more knowledgeable tennis fans like you on here.

That 6th game of the 3rd. Reason why I love women's tennis pretty much as the men's side. Tennis makes every player mentally tough.

Yeah, really high quality match. I'm a big Serena fan, but I'll be happy for Kerber if she can gut this out after getting broken back.

And as soon as i say that, Kerber plays a couple of nervous points early, then gets Serena'd. Hard.

Really happy for Kerber. Wow.

Serena loves the French, so getting number 22 there will be pretty nice for her, I'm sure. Wimbledon or the US Open wouldn't be so bad either.

Can't wait to see HS's celebration on here.

Damn. What fight. Serena's net game was horrid today.
Both players' games were very volatile. Lots of crazy angles and hard shots, but also lots of errors.

Also, Kerber's thighs are delish. Had to say it.

Where is my dear old friend Liberal Bacon? He needs a hug right about now. I think this was a resounding slap on his face.

Unfortunately , yes.

Unfortunately, no.

As I said yesterday, Serena will have what I like to call "Senior days" from time to time and they will become more frequent in the future. This was one of them. She admitted herself she can not win every one any more. She looked like she was a half step slower and definitely a lot stiffer then she had been all tournament.

She can still win some majors in the next year and a half, but it is going to get tougher to do that. She had about as easy a draw as possible with only Sharapova being a little of a challenge. Missed an real opportunity here.

Now, On to the "real tennis" finals...

Actually having Sharapova makes a draw easier for her! Harder is when she plays youngsters who are not in awe of her "legacy" and "intimidation". In the end she can only threaten to kill a lineswoman. The laws unfortunately for her are very strict in America for her to do it and get away with.

People like HS could learn a lot from the class that Serena showed in defeat.

They're blinded by irrational hatred, though. Go figure.
