I like the idea of a 1 year deal for leino on the cheap. I think he could play with schenn and simmonds. I don't know why, but for whatever reason, I think Vinny will try harder and put up some decent numbers if he gets to play with G and Jake.

I think that would hold true for about 75% of the guys in the NHL.Lots of time left to explore other options.

I don't think anyone is disputing that. I just like the offensive lift he brings to the Coots line.

Ville Leino has 46 points in the last three years. I don't know where your seeing an upside offensively in having Leino play for us.

Adam Hall's 23 points and total all around game, including faceoffs, would have me play him over Leino.

IF Leino can be signed to a short term, earn your keep contract...I would do it.
Yes, I like Akeson and would like to give him a shot, but Leino is a legitimate NHL player. In Buffalo he was being played out of position from day 1.

With Umberger and Leino the Flyers have two legit NHL wingers who can play on any line and bring more speed and potential offense. Akeson would bring some scoring and moxy, but he is not as good a skater as either Leino or Umberger.

I just don't know how the Flyers would be able to bring Leino in without making another cap move, even at a greatly reduced rate.

I was referring to Akeson's offensive upside on the Coots line. As for Leino, he is an actual LW who has shown ability to put up points in the past. Not sure who he was playing with in Buffalo, but I'm pretty certain that it wasn't the talent of Schenn and Simmonds. 1 yr/1 mil deal is low risk for a guy that could potentially put up 50 points in that situation. Hell, if we were willing to give Shelley 1 mil/yr for 3 years, they can take a shot with an actual LW.

As for my Vinny comments. It appeared that Vinny was disinterested last year playing LW on the 2nd line and C on the 4th line. Regardless of how much he says he doesn't like LW, I'm sure there would be some extra jump in step if he is able to play on the first line. I'm not condoning rewarding veteran players with line promotions for essentially pouting, but it is what it is at this point. We are going to be stuck with him and his contract this year it appears so we might as well play him where we will get the most out of him.

maybe you guys are right but IMO if Leino was any good other teams would be out there snatching him up and he wouldn't be getting contract offers for only 1 million.

Depends on the condition of his hip, which has been the primarly cause of his lack of scoring.

Eklund saying we are in on Bogosian.

I can just see us trading Brayden Schenn to Winnipeg and he becomes a 70 point center and hero of the Canadian Prairies

heh, he's been championing bogosian (byfuglien, kane) to the flyers for years. I'll believe it when I see it.

Yeah, it seems to be a cycle of rumors between us and either Winnipeg or Edmonton.

I have no doubt that the Flyers love Bogo though. Just a typical tough Flyer.

Agreed - the Flyers would love to have him but it's not going to happen

Very interesting but Bogo has been hurt a lot the past few years pretty risky....otherwise he's a good talent that's for sure. Just not sure I'd do Schenn for him....

Think it went under the radar here but we signed Peter White to a two way deal and now the Phantoms signed Powe
