Boy does a lot depend on what happens next with Schenn.
With Gudas signed and all of the various qualifiers out there...the direction will depend on Schenn's next contract. If the negotiations go south, and that is possible, he is qualified so there is a known dollar amount that can be counted against a projected cap. How much higher than that Schenn is looking for will determine how many players will need to be moved around.

Is Schenn worth moving out some depth to make a contract fit? Matt Read? Mark Streit?

This will be an interesting few weeks. Hexy plays a very deep game and it is hard to figure out some of his moves before they happen....

We need offense and Schenn is offense. Probably 4yr/$18 mill.

4 yrs, 18 mil... that is pretty reasonable. Frankly...If Schenn's folks came to the Flyers with that number it should be pretty straight forward.

My expected number for Schenn has been 5.5. Wonder how this goes

As much as some of us would without a doubt complain about $5.2 million or more, this kid has earned that paycheck and if he continues to improve, he will be worth that and then some.

I'm not worried at all here. Just sign him and make him happy. He would probably get $6 million or more on the free agent market, so we will be fine.

This will not make it to arbitration either. The two sides will come to a mutual agreement before that takes place.

I think we all hope that Schenn gets what Palmieri just got from the Devils. Based on the stats and ages of these players, it also makes a lot of sense. They are pretty damn even.

Btw, he got $4.65 million for 5 years.

If we could get B Schenn for the same deal as Palmeieri Hextall would move into the elite staus of GM's if he isn't already there.

All in all...this is a pretty good deal.
The Flyers have 4 years of cost certainty. There is no, NM/NT clauses. That means that if the deal is there...it can be made. It also sets the tone that if you perform and develop and improve your game you will be paid.

It also sets the stage for at least one move to shed money between now and the opening of the season.

updated the front page.. only difference between that page and General Fanager is they count Brennan and Weal as 7th dman and 13th forward respectively. I figure it's pointless to include them because i doubt that will actually come to pass.

Happy with the Schenn deal. Anything under 5mil would've been a total steal. Ideally would've liked a bit longer term, but just happy he is locked up

Shorter here- 3 years,if he would have taken it.
Don't need any more Holgrem type deals that bite them in the ass.
