Just copied it over from the 14/15 thread. I'll work to update with what we know today. I'll also update this throughout the offseason to keep it up to date.

Figure we need something since cap geek is gone. RIP dude.

Always a fun thread. Too bad we dont have CapGeek and won't be free agency players this summer.

Let's see how MDZ plays out

Trading Mark Streit would get a strong pick and clear cap space - they need to do that

I hope you're joking or being extremely sarcastic. Streit was 9th in scoring among defensemen with 52 points. His money was well-earned and we no longer have another defenseman to run the top power play unit. A unit that was 3rd in the Nhl at 23.4%. I would have him down as one of the top four or five guys we can't afford to lose.

We really don't need the cap space for next year. We have $3.8 and another $5 with Pronger. We cant add a high end dman

Agree. Streit runs the 3rd best PP in the league. We only need the space if you want to replace him with a high end top dman. I don't think that's a good idea with the young guys in the wings.

He still has two years left even after next season so it's not just about next season alone

I think he would be a good mentor to Ghost and Sanheim. Next year we lose Grossmann and Schenn which is another $7 million. Schultz and Umberger are up the following year which is another $7 mill. We have extensions for some high end guys but Vinny could be bought out by then.

And by cant add a high end dman means that any top pair guys will want between 4-6 years. At this point we should not be signing long term defensemen with the prospects we have.

Don't forget to calculate the new contract for MDZ. He is going to want to get paid.
I would not be shocked to see Vinny traded and maybe Grossmann or MacDonald. That would clear some additional space.

This is wishful thinking. Vinny and MacDonald are really not tradeable because of shitty contracts. MacDonald may own the worst contract in the league. Grossmann could go at the trade deadline but doubtful before.

From Bill Meltzer:

* One of the complicating factors in the Flyers efforts to trade Vincent Lecavalier is the fact that he is due to collect a $2 million check from the team come July 1 as the third installment of his signing bonus for inking a contract with the Flyers in the summer of 2013 after being bought out by Tampa Bay. if the team is going to be able to trade him -- Flyers general manager Ron Hextall insists that the organization will not entertain a buyout beforehand -- it almost certainly won't happen before July 2.

* Since the NHL has already made clear that Chris Pronger can be kept on long-term injured reserve for the final two years of his contract despite now working for the NHL's Department of Player Safety and clearly being unable to resume his career due to post-concussion syndrome, here is something to keep in mind: Although Pronger's cap hit is $4.94 million, his real-dollar salaries for 2015-16 and 2016-17 are $575,000. The NHL cap floor and ceiling for next season will not be beneficial to the Flyers, but there are still clubs such as Arizona that will need to get to the floor.

IMO there's no way they let the Flyers trade Pronger to a cap floor team. That would just look so awful from a PR side. They do some dumb stuff, but I can't imagine them allowing that. I think he's on the books for 2 more years.

"Satsar alla kort p NHL" - st.nu

Erik Gustafsson news. He wants to come back to the NHL, his agent has talked to the Flyers a bit, the Flyers think he is an NHL player, but our defense is crowded. (Google translate, there is a better translation on Twitter somewhere)

I will never understand how we could scratch Gus and then proceed to trade assets for MacDonald. Really like Gustafsson, hopefully we can shed Schenn and Grossmann to get him back.

Streit-Schultz
Gustaffson-Del Zotto
Gudas-MacDonald*

*Wow, that is a horrible defense.
