Darvish seems a little off at the moment.

Dlino still striving to improve his value and I think he will not be a Ranger afterv the trade deadline. Any thoughts?

It's that 2nd WC. Rangers only 4 or 5 out right now. Will be a hard decision to sell but if the price is right?

With the 26th pick in the first round the Rangers select OF Bubba Thompson. I was afraid of them picking him.

OF Bubba Thompson, Mobile, AL, Age 19, 6’2”, 180 (Jonathan Mayo, MLB.com)
(#25 BA, #26, MLB.com)

A gifted quarterback, Thompson has warded off football offers and will focus on baseball, even in the unlikely event he attends college. Unlike Tristan Lutz (see below), he’s expected to stick in center, where his blazing speed will carry him while he refines his defense. He also has the arm for right. Thompson’s hitting is more of a work in progress; he projects as average overall with the potential for decent power.

I get the idea that the Rangers think higher of DeShields than they should so I don't see a trade anytime soon. But then, what do I know.

In the secomd round the Rangers take the pitcher whose description reminds me of Derek Holland with a dash of Mark Fydrych.

His personality is unusual: Baseball America describes him as “goofy and playful” off the field but an “intense competitor” on the mound while Perfect Game notes his “animated and entertaining actions on the mound” but also praises his “openly competitive” nature and track record of performance under pressure.

Crouse, 18, threw fastballs at 90 miles per hour in the summer after his freshman year; 95 as a sophomore and 100 in the fall of his senior year. He remembers each mph milestone like some high schoolers remember prom dates. As a pitcher, his stuff brings out all the baseball parlance you want to hear: nasty, filthy, dirty, disgusting, electric, eye-popping. All those are good things to be.

Another adjective that describes Crouse on the mound: unhinged.

He jumps over foul lines. He reads inspirational verses from the inside lining of his hat. He points to the heavens, yells at umps, shouts obscenities at himself, shimmies in the middle of his delivery. He’s like Mark Fidrych, the Detroit Tigers’ eccentric showstopper from the 1970s, but with a harder edge.

In a recent game, Crouse bent over and manicured the dirt on the mound with his hand, just like Fidrych used to do.

Mike Bacsik, a former Texas Rangers pitcher and current talk show host for The Fan KRLD-FM (105.3), tried to hit another man during a coaching dispute at a youth baseball game last August, police say.

According to a police report, third-base coach Gilbert Roblez, 59, told police he was helping a new player when Bacsik — the opposing team's coach — complained to the umpire.

Roblez said he told Bacsik to calm down, and then Bacsik reportedly charged at him.

Police say Bacsik pushed Roblez to the ground, then swung at him without making contact. He then got up in Roblez's face saying, "Come on let's do it," in an attempt to fight, according to the incident report.

Bacsik then reportedly pushed Roblez to the ground a second time, twisting his ankle and injuring his neck, police said. Roblez did not seek medical treatment at that time, police said.

Two witnesses confirmed Roblez's account, police said.

Bacsik faces trial later this month on a charge of assault by contact, a class C misdemeanor punishable by a fine of up to $500.

As of right now, it's back-to-back triples and a poor base running decision by Gallo for out 3.

That was an odd play. I wonder if 3rd coach was saying anything, but Joey hesitated twice. That was an amazing play by the pitcher though, gotta give credit there too.

So a light hitting CF is his ceiling? Not bad to have those guys in the farm.
