Who thought we would've sweep the Nats? So why not two in a row?

26. Texas Rangers: Nate Pearson, RHP, College of Central Florida

SHARE
The Rangers have also got the 29th pick and could balance college and prep choices with their two selections. Pearson is a 6'6", 245-pound righty who transferred from Florida International this spring. He’s got a big fastball, consistently 93-94 mph and up to 97 as a starter, with 100 reached out of the bullpen. His secondary stuff is inconsistent, though his changeup projects as a plus pitch, and some feel that once he focuses on either a curve or slider, that pitch will improve.

Trouble in paradise for the Astros. Several of their starters hurt. Rangers better not trade Yu to the Astros if they do have to deal him. I don't want to see Darvish and ohtani as opponents 20 times a season for years to come.

  • The Astros have the biggest lead and the best record in MLB. They are not in panic mode at all.
  • The Astros are extremely unlike to be able to compete with the big dogs when it comes to signing Darvish.
  • Otani is a daydream at this point. A fun one, but do not count that chicken before it hatches.

I could see him resigning there if we trade him to them and they win a World Series.

I'd trade him to whomever offered us the best deal. Granted, the Astro's, IMO anyway, would need to be a lot better than anyone else's.

Why are you making an assumption that Ohtani and Darvish is some kind of package deal? Don't think this is true at all.

It's not that far fetched cliff lee would have re-upped if we won in 2010

Possibly, but think of how the starting pitching market has exploded since then. I don't think Houston is going to drop $30+ million a year on Yu Darvish.

EDIT: What I mean is, I don't think Darvish will give them a "championship discount." This is just my opinion, but if the Rangers don't re-sign him, he's going to the highest bidder. And I don't see the Astros competing with the big dogs (LAD, NYY, CHC) or some crazy-ass hail mary from a mystery team.

This is nothing against you specifically, Don, but "Ohtani" to me is "Bannister" to you. :suds:

I'm gonna remember what you did here. Just be aware of that PARTNER. ha

Maybe later I'm going to come up with something clever like this myself. Just maybe.
