Maybe Michigan would have gotten Saban :scared:

Yeah, Bama went through a weird period prior to Saban's arrival. Even had a head coach leave their program for Aggy......

All Bama fans owe Richrod a deb5 of gratitude. The fact that he is a tool saved Alabama from degradation, and got us the extra time we needed to get Saban. Worked out pretty well. At the time, I had been pulling for Spurrier; wonder how *that* would have worked out!

Saw that on PTI last night, got to wonder how things would have gone for Alabama had he accepted the job. What would have happened to Nick Saban in that case then?

Don't think Saban would consider Michigan worthy?

Saban tried coaching in the B1G--he didn't like the constraints. It's a matter of policy that recruits must meet Michigan's admission requirements (for athletes) not just the NCAA's.

He wanted to save himself to give some really good years to Michigan. Thanks RR!

Also found it interesting Saban called himself a "horseshit football coach" then followed it up with "but no one will out recruit me" perhaps @TrustMeIamRight has an opinion on this :pop2:

Looking back at what really happened between Alabama and Rich Rodriguez 10 years ago

I agree wholeheartedly with Saban. Great coach in the SEC. Best recruiter by a land slide.

College is about who can collect the most talent. Funny that Saban feels the same way about himself as a coach, as I do.

You can explain to me all you want, but they went after guys like RichRod and Les Miles.

Yes, and look how that worked out. They didn't even consider Saban at that time, and I don't think they would have.

Saban wasn't leaving Bama by that time. That's why he wasn't considered, but had he been available, you are foolig yourself if you think he wouldn't have been a candidate

Dark days. We really wanted Harbaugh when he hired Hoke. Even back then, insiders at MI knew if our AD went, we'd get Harbaugh eventually. And we did. Internally, no MI HC has ever been disliked from the get go as RR.
