Cubs starters were the 3rd best in the NL in the 2nd half behind the Nats and Dbags.

What about their pen? Asking because I honestly don't know. Just going by what I've seen from Cubs fans on twitter

Got you but you do realize they had a better record by several games than every team they faced in the playoffs since 2012 right? Just want to make sure we are on the same page.

I haven't even looked at their opponents. I asked you if you thought any of them were better than the Nats, and you only mentioned the '12 Cards.

As far as season standings/records, I have a massive reverence for the outcome of a 162-game season. Frankly, I think an analysis of that is the best way to determine which team was "the best" in a given year. That said, that doesn't mean I think the best team over 162 is the best team in October.

The Cubs won five fewer games than the Nats this year, and twelve fewer than the Dodgers, but heading into the playoffs, I considered the Cubs to be the team to beat.

I have no idea if we're on the same page or not.

10th in the AL. It's not good. I'm not saying I think they're going to beat the Dodgers (I think those are the two best NL teams going at it). I just brought up the Cubs starters as something that could be pointed to as a reason how they could win.

Major League Baseball's qualifying offer amount for this offseason has been set at $17.4 million.

A previous report from MLB.com's Jon Morosi had the offer valued at $18.1 million, but Morosi has now confirmed Dierkes' report that it will be set at $17.4 million. It's an increase of $200,000 over last year's amount. The number is determined by taking the average of the top 125 salaries across baseball.

I seriously have no idea why Dusty Baker continues to be employed as a big league manager. The guy sucks and has for years.
Probably the one and only thing I ever agreed with Jim Rome about. The Lizard sucks...he has pissed down his pants for every team he has managed
