I find myself feeling overconfident in this series, after feeling we had no shot at the tribe

I just keep thinking back to KLuber/Carrasco/Bauer/Miller/Shaw/Joe Smith/Allen

And I look at Houston and see none of those guys, and thin the Yankees could really destroy some baseballs this series

Really hope Astros pitching steps up and only allows 1 a game...

I dont know if they messed it up. Its not the first time Weiters has been hit this series, he sets up too close. Its part of his game making players uncomfortable. We also see why he was not pursued as a free agent. It cost them. Baker needs to step down and not force the Nationals to fire him.

The rule says they messed up. It clearly affected the play.

But man Baker is just cursed. Going to scherz was 100% the right move. And it burned him.

its still candy.

Wait...you're not kidding? You made this up, right?

Hah hah! Good one, Rock! You still got it

He must have some pictures on a lot of people

I've said the same thing ever since Cincinnati. I love the guy, seems nice enough, probably interviews well...and to be fair, his teams do win a lot of regular season games.

He's just not a good post-season manager. Never seems to push the right buttons.

Indians and Nationals are some of the best "regular" season teams

Besides leaving Gio in for probably 2 batters too long I didn't think he was the problem last night.

It's not that. It is more about the consistent losing in this round and almost always at home in a deciding game 5. Have to get over the hump eventually

Meh. Shit happens. In any of those series, would you say that they were beaten by an inferior team?

Very true on all accounts. Players do seem to like to play for him... It's just that a switch gets turned off or something during the post season

See, I don't get this. It's as if people think they lost a 5-game series to an inferior team.

Heading into the postseason, I felt as if the Cubs were the best team in the NL.

They were. They dug themselves a big hole early but have played great to close out the season. Plus, as we all know the Nats play 86 games against four of the worst teams in the National League

There's no question in my mind that the Yankees are about to experience a major talent drop in terms of the pitching they're about to face. The Indians were arguably the best pitching staff in the majors. The Astros pitching was somewhat above average.

I wouldn't expect the Astro's bats to lay down the way the Tribe's did, though. Then again, I think a lot of the Indians' problem was the preparation of the Yankees' pitching staff.

No, that's fair...last night was a completely wacko game, not sure he made too much of a difference...but he has a long history of making moves that just don't pan out.

ESPN has an article about his post season failures. Even when he did something right (taking Russ Ortiz out with a 5-0 lead in game 6 in 2002) something goes wrong (you get a random gust of wind that blows a Spiezio pop up into a 3 run HR).

That's not the point though. Eventually you need to get over the hump and win a series.

But to answer your question I would say the 88 win Cardinals team who beat them in 2012 was inferior. Nats split the first 2 games in St. Louis and had 3 straight at home. Somehow they did not come away with the series win

True, but rewind a series, and the Tribes # vs Tanaka and the Yankees #'s vs KLuber, were even uglier before the series
