These are Ohio papers reporting about the Title IX clause in his contract. Zach Smith is a member of his staff — if he didn’t report to OSU what he knew, he could be fired with cause and OSU owes him nothing.

If he did report it and OSU fired him, OSU would be on the hook for 38 million dollars.
This. Is. Not. A. Title. IX. Issue.

People who keep bringing it up are uninformed.

So a contract he signed in 2018 could lead to his being fired for something that happened in 2015? I'm no lawyer, but OSU better be prepared to pay out his entire contract if that happens.

Not only that, but it's pretty obvious that Meyer knew about 2015, the AD (his boss knew) about 2015, the police knew about 2015, and no charges were filed. How exactly does that violate his contract (the old or the new)?

His big sin was shooting his big fat mouth off at B1G media day. If he should be fired for that, so be it, but it won't be because he violated a clause in his contract that wasn't even there when the event happened.

Was Zach Smith on Urban Meyer’s staff after he signed the contract?!? If so, then yes, he’d have to report it to OSU.
It is why he made the statement saying he reported it in 2015 to OSU, to cover his ass now.

Since it isn’t a title IX issue — who cares if Zach Smith beat his wife daily? Why would anyone be up in arms right now and why would Urban Meyer have to report anything to the school?

You have to report anything, even accusations, and Meyer did.

I did not know my WR coach beat his wife a single time.

Why would the police not press charges? Do you know something they don't?

Probably bc she called 911 66 times in 90 days. They stopped believing her. Supposedly Courtney’s cousin said she is half crazy and we know that she is an alcholic like Zach

I’ve literally stated — I think Urban Meyer should keep his job. He isn’t the guy who beat a woman.
It wasn’t until I saw he had the Title IX clause added to his contract where I said he could be in trouble, especially after saying he knew nothing about prior incidents.
IMO, that is EXACTLY why he released the statement he did, saying he did know about it and reported it all. If he didn’t, the text messages and interviews (by Zach Smith and his ex-wife) would not only get him fired, but fired with cause and he’d not get a penny of the contract he signed. By releasing the statement — IF he were to lose his job, it could leave OSU on the hook for the entire contract.

Personally — I still think he should keep his job, but in today’s #metoo, PC world — they want to take everyone down instead of just the person responsible and OSU may not want to deal with the backlash of all these fanatical groups if they let it slide that Meyer kept Smith on his staff.

If anything, as Michigan fan, you’d think I’d be a guy calling for Meyer’s Head. I don’t want him losing his job because of one POS coach who thinks choking and throwing his wife around is normal. I’m not trying to lynch anyone!?!

This whole thing is a joke. This has nothing to do with Urban Meyer. He's not responsible for whatever happens between two other married adults behind closed doors. That's their business, not his. And it's this lady's fault for staying in the relationship for so many years. Not Urban Meyer's. This lady is pathetic and only has herself to blame for the decisions she'd made in life. Hell, even the cops never charged the guy with anything.

But yeah, let's blame Urban Meyer for some lady's poor life decisions. Meyer is about as responsible for that as the Tooth Fairy and Santa Claus are. Maybe we should hold them accountable too? I can't stop LMFAO at this logical fallacy and all the fake outrage by the mental midget, libtard, Ohio State haters.
Just make sure you put the Buckeye icon back as one of your favorite teams when Meyer serves his suspension, deal?

Did you miss the B1G media day where Urban Meyer said he knew nothing about any incidents with Zach Smith?
The PR firm released the statement with his name on the bottom today to try and cover his ass if he were to lose his job.
If Meyer loses his job (which I hope he doesn’t) — you will see OSU making a statement that he never reported the Zach Smith incidents, because then they don’t owe him a dime.
It is a $38 million dollar conundrum for OSU. IF he loses his job — I have a feeling you will see a long drawn out court case with one side saying he did report and the other saying he didn’t. Or OSU will try to settle for a lesser amount.
But as I said — I hope he keeps the job. Zach Smith can go jump on front of a speeding semi truck.

I'm not going to scroll through all of this, but have any of you read his statement yet? To me it sounds like she may have been the aggressor, but who knows? We know she has baggage though and a drinking problem. Alcohol and a toxic relationships usually end up in bad situations I would imagine. Meyer will rejoin the team, not sure what and if he serves a suspension? He won't be fired though.
