It is my understanding the university knew about the letter and approved it.

• Urban told Gene about Zach's 2015 incident.
• Gene called Zach and told him to hop a plane from Florida and get back to Columbus.
• Zach met with the Powell police department.
• The Powell police department did not file any charges.
• The Powell police department told Gene that no charges would be filed.
• Urban told Zach that if he found out there was any abuse, he would be fired.
• The first and only time Zach was arrested (in 2018) he was fired, despite the fact that the arrest was for criminal trespass, not for any abuse.

Not sure what else Gene or Urban could have done other than fire a guy because his ex wife called 911 66 times in 90 days. Hell, the Powell police dispatchers stopped sending squad cars when she called.

Without question — with the Title IX clause — if he didn’t report it. He could be terminated and OSU would owe him nothing.
That letter is nothing more than a PR firm trying to cover his ass and his name being attached to the end of it.
Sadly for Urban — Zach Smith has already said on ESPN, Urban knew about the 2009 incident, he knew about the 2015 incident and obviously knew about the current incident.
So how is he going to justify bringing him along from job to job?!?

I said earlier — I think he keeps his job. But the more I read and the more that comes out — it looks less and less like that will happen.

If he indeed reported it up in 2015 then the higher ups also have the ability (even obligation) to remove a wife beater from the program.

Urbs up to the AD or even the president are culpable here. The BOR may have to do a house cleaning.

What if the AD talked to the police and they told him she was bat-sh*t crazy and they didn't believe she was being abused?

I always felt OSU was treated as the flagship program of the Big 10 and BTN. They actually are.

Michigan has notoriety, but that's from pre-WWII. They're no Ohio St.

That being said, Penn St and Nebraska have accomplished far more than Michigan in the last 50 years.

Once again that is under the assumption that the accusation is true. Do you remove a falsely accused person from the program? I dont know which side is telling the truth. Others like the local PD may know more.

If they had PROOF. Meyer reports it but you still need proof. Looks like the reason why Zach was being incestigated was bc of Ohio St’s AD from recent reports
