lol yeah, experienced upstate New York type cold before back in my Air Force days(about 27 miles FROM the Canadian border, in fact). minus 67 with the wind chill factor was not uncommon...

Fuck. That.

I don't like that for the Spurs, I realize they had to use Green to ever get the contracts to work, but the Spurs gave up the best player and the 3rd best player in the deal. The pick will be the very late 20s.

I feel like the Spurs took a worse deal than they needed to in an effort to stick it to Kahwi.

From a media exposure perspective, Toronto is VERY different than Philly, Chicago or Boston.

Toronto the city is lovely, albeit absurdly cold in the winter. Way worse than Philly and colder than Boston or Chicago, albeit it not as much.
Vince got plenty of exposure down south back before the social media era. He was just a shade off of how public a figure AI was and 1) AI was better than him and 2) Vince didn't have any of the baggage, just his skills.

Regardless, those cities have winters as bad or sometimes worse than here. It's a dogshit argument as a reason anybody would avoid here.

PG taught us one thing - don't ever assume that a player having a whole year with a (quality) organization that they were traded to will automatically leave the following season for a set destination/franchise.

The difference here is that he will have to be sold on a whole other country. I hear guys that play up there get taxed at a higher rate, I don’t see his uncle standing for that long term. I expect he is one and done, if they can get thst much out of him.

I think the Raptors got a good deal.

And I mean, if they were looking to rebuild, I think if they want to re-flip Kawhi at some point because its not working out they could actually come out on top of this deal.

Having said that, it'll be fascinating to see how Kawhi acts. Will he take this as a challenge, stay healthy and lead this team and try and rehab his image that has been so tarnished the last few weeks? Or will he whine, mope, nurse his leg, complain and play half-ass basketball.

And as we read the other day--- their are GM's that are concerned about Kawhi's health. They have legitimate concerns whether he can still be that top 5 player, or if he is more of a top 15-30 player after the injury.

I just love that Pop did not give him what he wanted, and traded him to the East. I am really pumped he did not go to LA- either the Lakers or Clippers. He should not be able to dictate what he wants to do after what he has pulled over the last year.

Depends what you're comparing it to. Compared to Texas? Definitely. Compared to California or NY? Nope.

Since he wanted to go to LA, guessing the taxes aren't such a big deal.

/He gets paid in US$ and can spend in CDN$ too. He comes out on top there too.

He has a contractual obligation to fulfil.

But he can do whatever he wants to tank his trade value. And he did.

Spurs didn't want to rebuild with Pop still there. But their team looks like it was straight out of 1995.
