Numbers? I watched the game Atlanta out played NE for most of it NE whipped the shit out of Atl in the 4th.
Atlanta outplayed New England from the start of the 2nd, until about halfway through the 3rd. New England outplayed Atlanta from halfway through the 3rd to the end of OT.

I'm just disagreeing with SoxFan who's claiming NE outplayed ATL for at least 1/2 of the SB. The SB I watched I say ATL outplay NE for about 3/4 of the game.
Did Atlanta outplay New England in the first quarter when both teams exchanged punts and Atlanta didn't get past midfield? Atlanta dominated from the fumble in the first minute of the 2nd quarter, to the last TD they scored, with 8:31 left in the 3rd. That's 20 minutes, 37 seconds of game time in a game that went 63 minutes and 52 seconds. Less than 1/3 of the game and not close to 3/4.

Ahh but in those scenarios, the team that won the Super Bowl was in line to host the Super Bowl opponent. Since Baltimore will host Tampa in 2018, should be Ravens over Bucs.

And I didn't say New England outplayed Atlanta for at least 1/2 the Super Bowl. I said New England dominated for a larger percentage of the game than Atlanta did. You can't say either team outplayed the other in the first quarter when both teams are exchanging punts. If anything, New England advanced the ball further before punting. Atlanta didn't start outplaying them until they recovered the fumble.

The numbers don't lie. Your perception however is subjective. Minus those 7-8 minutes when Atl score 2 offensive TDs and a pick six. It was back and forth. 3 and out. Get a first down then punt...

NE also DOMINATED the OT

It's embarrasing you refer to Brady as top 3?
Is it? Its hard to tell how he is playing in relation to Aaron Rodgers and Matt Ryan but that was definitely the top 3 last year.

I probably would've had Brady at 1 or 2 just due to Rodgers early play but its hard to tell. Top 3 is 'winning' enough for the Patriots.

I remember when 49er fans said that same thing... lol. Smith has limitations but dude wins. When KC loses in the playoffs it's because their D doesn't get it done ( generally speaking). Smith isn't elite but there aren't many of those guys running around
At some point its Alex Smith.

Alex Smith could have gone 8 quarters against that Giants D without getting the job done when he lost in the NFCCG with the Niners. Alex Smith getting the job done, imo, requires a lot of damage with his legs and as he gets older his value as a QB is just going to vanish.

It is, due to the fact I wasn't sure if you were talking all time, season, playoff...? I also have no way of knowing how you qualify your number 1-3? I know of the three you mentioned, one achieved the goal the other two had to start the season but fell short.

Top 3 based on current level of play. Brady is the best pocket passer of all time. If the Patriots give him a clean pocket then yeah, Id take him #1.

That's fine if you think that. I'm just pointing out that he's played excellent in the playoffs. 12 tds to 2 ints. 95 qb rating. 27 ppg. Alex Smith is a very good QB. It's that simple. Are there better guys? Sure. However there aren't many that are better and none on the KC roster

If Smith plays like last year there may not be all that big of a gap. The playing well in the playoffs schtick means absolutely nothing to me. It's like pointing out the Manning brothers own Brady in H2H playoff matchups. Who cares really? The Chiefs are in the same division as a young Derek Carr and Phillip Rivers. At some point they need to make a serious play to be better than average at the QB position; and if it's last year it's more so better than fringe top 20. I won't say Smith is terrible or anything- he's obviously not, but the obvious fact he isn't great continues to be a problem in the playoffs. Doesn't mean he can't- just means you should be keeping an eye out for a replacement. We aren't going down the Ravens' schtick of marrying ourselves to an average at best QB.

What Im saying is that the name Alex Smith might not mean 95 qb rating moving forward. The guy is getting older and if teams dont have to worry about his legs and have never had to worry about his deep ball then he is going to start having issues.

His game manager status was fairly lackluster last year in the regular season, too. He had a couple of really costly INTs though I think that can get cleaned up
