He is.

He thinks he's a superstar, but his brains and body can't cash the checks his ego is writing. And that ends up getting him burned more than he should.

Who was the last ass-hat that we had that thought that same exact thing, and it got him what????
Sent to Wash Redfaces......Damn, what was his name....
I know he begged to come back and Pittsburgh snubbed the asshole!!!
And I liked him, just can't think of the name!!!!

Found this interesting... Apparently Mitchell doesn't feel the heat. Not surprising given his ego

So. How far does Sidney Jones fall before the Steelers should be taking a look?

Sorry if that's been discussed already.

Not that I'm aware of...

But as far as I can tell these are the teams that are in need of a CB:
pick 3: Bears
pick 5: Titans
pick 6: Jets
pick 10: Bills (Gillmore gone, as well as slot Roby-Coleman & depth Thomas)
pick 11: Saints
pick 12: Browns (more than likely they'll take a QB here)
pick 13: Cardinals (departure of both Cooper & Jefferson in the 2ndary)
pick 14: Eagles
pick 16: Ravens
pick 18: Titans (again)
pick 22: Dolphins
pick 24: Raiders (can never predict them)
pick 26: Seahawks (more likely a O-lineman)
pick 27: Chiefs (they have more pressing needs at the LB & D-line positions, but its possible given Peters' UW connection)
pick 28: Cowboys (Claiborne & Carr both gone. They need help fast)
pick 29: Packers (a lot of departures in the 2ndary)

Not that most of these teams will take a DB in these slots, but they're all a possibility. My guess is he'll fall but won't make it past the Cowboys or Packers. They both need a player like him, and we know Jerrah doesn't shy away from these types of picks.

You think he's still a 1st rounder with the blown achilles from his pro-day?

Depending on the severity, typically one can resume activities 6 months after surgery which puts his return in September. But that's if the surgery goes well & he's strict about his PT with no setbacks. It's really tough to predict. It's a pretty big gamble for a 1st Rd pick, but he's arguably a plug-in starter in the NFL so it's a huge payoff. I'd predict whomever drafts him that he'd start off the season on PUP or IR-recall. Could be ready to start in weeks 4 or 6.

What I'm hearing is that he's a second to third rounder now because of the injury and the depth at the position. I have to be honest though, I'm a big fan of the kid and wouldn't be mad if the Steelers grabbed him at 30. Yeah, you might be waiting a year to get him on the field but it also might be the only chance we get to draft the best CB in the draft for many years.

My concern isn't so much in waiting for him to heal and rehab. It's more regarding what kind of a player will he be when he returns?

It would definitely be a safer pick in the 2nd or 3rd. These sort of injuries can be a slippery slope towards a player's rapid decline. Take Ifo Ekpre-Olomu from the '15 draft. He was touted as the #1 CB prospect before tearing his ACL (different tendon, but still). He ended up getting drafted in the 7th Round that year! And he didn't play the 1st season. Once he got healthy he ended up tearing the tendon again. Now he's a FA and not likely to ever play a down in the NFL.

There's 3-4 guys that are touted as 1st Rd CB prospects this season, so passing on Jones is more likely.

Buts I wants him!

@SteelersPride would be the better guy to ask about it. It's his profession dealing with these sorts of injuries.

So what say you SP? What's the likelihood of Sidney Jones coming back from a torn achilles and being the same player?

very very very unlikely ...... achilles are bad. he may be a good player, he won't be great because of it, gonna lose a lot of speed and cutting ability
