Everything is goin great! Finished up a house remodel last fall just before the baby arrived. It's been bliss ever since. First month was a bit rough, but compared to what I've heard from others that have gone through the newborn baby phase we had it made! Little man is almost 7months, just started to sit up and we're expecting the crawl to start any day now. Been working a lot from home so that's been a huge plus for the family. Really excited for the weather to start turning for the better. We got hammered with snow this winter.

What about you man? How's life back east? Lucky man getting to golf already. I think only 1 course has opened its range so far in my neck of the woods.

That's great...the transition is going well...I'm sure the little fella has helped with that....you're definitely getting ready for toddler proofing the house...once they start crawling they quickly figure out the whole walking thing out and they're off! My daughter was a slow walker...like 13 mos....my son pretty much skipped crawling, he was walking at 10 mos...that's a fun time.

Me? Man, we're enjoying it... moving towards empty nester status...ironic the same one that walked so quickly is clinging to the roof over his head...lol. Has a decent job...Both are good kids though and we've told him to bank his money so when tough times hit he's got something to lean on and he seems to be doing that...this time next year we expect he will be on his own...if not sooner.

We've found ATL is a great place to build a retirement...you can make decent money, and the cost of living is not nearly what it was up north. Golf weather 10 mos a yr...not bad.

Yea its definitely an exciting time. He is able to scoot himself around, or rotate like a clock-hand on his belly. Only a matter of time before he figures it out. And yea we'll be crash-coursing the child proofing since we have yet to start getting that all sorted out. He's at the stage where he wants to grab everything he sees, so we are a lot more mindful of what we leave out on the coffee tables & such. Once he sets his mind to wanting to touch somethin he will throw a fit until he achieves his goal lol.

Sounds like you've got it made! My parents did the same thing for me. After college they let me work while living under their roof, luckily landed a job not long after but it was great making pure income without having all the typical costs of living.

If Colbert does his job he should be able to provide talent that replaces Gay. Gay, IF he makes the 53 this year (big IF), should be limited to spot starting duties in the slot 3-5 games max while they groom a player or for injury relief.

Burns... One thing that has been annoying the shit out of me this offseason is the overreactions from the fanbase & analysts on Burns. A lot of people act as if he's already a Darrell Revis in his prime. He's young & talented, but far from a polished product. People seem to forget that things can go south quickly with DBs. It wasn't that long ago that we all thought Cortez Allen was the solution for Ike Taylor's replacement. He flashed early in his first couple starts, like Burns, but then regressed the following season until he ultimately crashed & burned. Or more recently people were humping Cockrell's leg after his week 2 showing when he shadowed AJ Green and basically shut him down... Then by midseason people were calling for his head.

I don't think Burns will end up in the same boat, but I'm certainly tempering my expectations.

Great post!!!

The biggest thing with young CBs is mental...you must have some swag about you to be able to shake off getting beat which will happen to every CB.

Allen was a mental midget. Maybe it was the injuries, but he lost his confidence and never got it back. Cockrell is not the most talented DB, but he's mentally strong and realizes failure is part of the game...Burns is more talented and seems to have that swag. If he keeps that, he will be fine.

Gay has just hit the wall...If Golson can't find his way onto the field, the Steelers are in serious trouble because Gay can't handle most slot WRs anymore.

If this fuckin team goes another year with shitty DB's and thinking William Gay is the answer in the answer....they really need to have CT scans from the coaches on up!!!

Not disregarding guys like Artie Burns, but he is still young and does not yet have it all figured out.

Mother fuck, someone get Troy on the phone!!!!

Preach it brother!!!

This is so evident that I can't imagine them screwing this FA/draft up...FIX 3RD DOWN!!!

IMO they're not going to get a NFL ready edge guy at 30...but they can somebody that can take some snaps maybe get 3 or 4 sacks and be ready to take over for Deebo next yr.

They CAN get better in the secondary THIS YEAR...whether it be Golson finally hitting the field, FA, and the the draft....it's not that hard to find better talent than Gay!

Watching little ones grow is an amazing time because it all happens so quickly...they go from pulling up on tables and what not to walking in no time...literally one day I come from work on a Monday and my daughter was walking...I'm like really? So cool to see that...enjoy!

Well, we're getting close again. Like many of us 50 somethings, the economy crashing set us back some. We have a pretty aggressive goal of paying off the house and my wife wants to travel so balancing that is my challenge these days, but I can't complain at all.

Definitely fast! It's crazy just lookin at his photos from a few months ago. So much change! I sure hope I get to watch the walking happen for the first time, or at the very least my wife. Would be bummed if both of us got off work one day and came home to a walking baby without one of us getting to witness the first steps.

Lets hope the economy resurfaces & stays healthy! I have decades before I can pay off my house! Unless I win that lottery, of course! Papa wants that chicken dinner! lol

What do big-money LT contracts mean for Steelers' Alejandro Villanueva?

Concerned about the stall with A-Vill... Hoping that its nothing more than him being busy with his graduate degree. But the Steelers would be wise to lock him up for the foreseeable future before his pricetag rises sharply.
Steelers have options though. If their predicted cap is tight, it would make sense financially NOT to extend him when they can have him at $615k this year and just over $4m as an RFA next year.

Should the Steelers go BPA with a position other than edge/OLB, I've been hearing a name creepin up the draft boards in the 2nd round... Ohio’s Tarell Basham. 50 tackles, 11.5 sacks, and 2 forced fumbles earned him MAC 2016 Defensive Player of the Year honors. At 6’4″ and weighing 265 lbs, he has adequate size to play OLB in the NFL.

Hopefully good news will be reported today... Need to do some homework on House

@ATL96Steeler @Psych-Ward
For those interested...

On the surface, he’s the quintessential target for the Steelers in free agency. House, listed at 6-foot-0, 200 pounds, is a younger player (he’ll be 28 in July) with experience released by another team, which is the Steelers’ modus operandi in free agency.

A 2011 third-round pick of the Packers, he left in 2014 for the Jaguars, who gave him a four-year, $25 million contract. House started all 16 games for Jacksonville in 2015, and led the team with 23 pass break-ups (a franchise record) and four interceptions.

He found himself on the Jaguars’ bench, only playing 272 snaps and compiling a bleak 43.6 overall rating in 2016

His fit with the Steelers likely would be molded in depth. It’s likely the team will head into the remainder of the offseason with restricted free agent Ross Cockrell and second-year Artie Burns as the starters. The nickel position is currently slated to go to veteran William Gay or the oft-injured Senquez Golson, who has yet to appear in a game after injuries cut down his first two NFL seasons.

The wife stayed at home with both kids only for about 6 mos or so neither one of us really saw the full cycle. I still remember this like it was yesterday...over the weekend my daughter had started letting go from the table she was pulling up on and take a few steps and crash...so we did see her 1st steps I guess.

We dropped her off at the sitter on Monday morning...apparently she was working on it all that day. Wife picked her up after work and I was home already...they came in and wife puts her down on the couch...kid climbs down off the couch which she had been doing, but this time she walks like 10-15 steps into the kitchen...we're like wow!

Like I was saying our son was a very quick, but our daughter was going on 4 when he was 10 mos, so I'm sure she encouraged him to get going quicker to keep up with her.

I hope we don't see another dip like the last one for certain...but by design we're a little more diverse this time.

My question is where did they suddenly find this 20 million under the cap all of a sudden???

EDIT: and why the fuck are they not spending it on a DB????
The NFL raised the cap 34% or some shit like that... Its up to 167ish million now. can't remember the specifics so don't quote me!
