We've mostly discussed CB/WR/RB when talking about the draft. Now that WR has become less of an option after picking up Alshon and Smith along with CB prospect Sydney Jones (a player who may have very well been our pick at 14) out for the year .... here's some other options to discuss (no particular order):

OJ Howard TE Alabama
*** Absolutely love Howard as a pro prospect. I think he will be a fixture at the Pro Bowl for years to come and despite TE not being a major need, adding Howard to our revamped group of targets would be lethal. Wentz would have all kinds of options on every play and we would have an open book of formations to throw at our opponents. If you select Howard at 14 you would cut Brent Celek and save a mil on the cap; while Celek's been really good for us, he's simply just a blocker at this point in his career.

Hasaan Reddick LB Temple
*** After having watched as much of his film/tape I can watch on Reddick it has become clear that this kid is an animal. Right now he doesn't have a defined NFL position, but with his talent and abilities should be able to transition to full time LB in the pros. I see Reddick as a hybrid for us playing primarily outside LB, but can be moved to End in pass rush situations. While too small to be an every down, hand in the dirt guy … he would be phenomenal in a PT role as a pass rush specialist.

DE Derek Barnett DE Tennessee
*** Complete DE who can step right in and start opposite Brandon Graham. Not an elite athlete, so many people are mocking him later in the first round, but at the end of the day he will out-produce all those “sexier” prospects. I see him as a 10 Sack per year guy who can also do the dirty work setting the edge against the run (3 down End). Connor Barwin who started all 16 games is now gone and Vinny Curry who, was signed to big money, did next to nothing to show he was worth the investment. Barnett would fit like a glove if he were the pick at 14.

OT Garett Bolles OT Utah
*** There is a very good chance that here is our first round pick. I have scouted film/vids of Bolles the past few days and this kid looks like a really, really good LT prospect. Super athletic, has room to add weight and can get to areas on the field to make blocks that many other less athletic Linemen simply can't. We have a lot invested in Carson Wentz and Jason Peters at most is here for just this upcoming season. Matter of fact, if we were to draft Bolles, Peters may be on his way out after June 1st or even traded shortly after the draft for possibly a 2018 pick.

DE Takkarist McKinley DE UCLA
*** I know some people are really high on him, I am not one of them. He is the opposite of Derek Barnett in that he will make those splash sacks you put on youtube to make you think he's a better player than he really is. The problem is that I see him disappear from games or get blocked out of plays way too often. I'll put him on this list because some do like him and I want to be fair :)

OT Cam Robinson
*** Like Garett Bolles, Cam should be on the radar for us at pick 14, but he is not as athletic or quick as Bolles when I compare. Even though I do think Cam is athletic enough to stay at OT in the pros, I'd rather see him at RT instead of the blind side. So if we were to take Cam at 14, it would be to use at RT and move Lane Johnson to LT. At this point in time I'd rather just leave Lane at RT and take a kid like Bolles to stay on the left side if we go OT at 14. Of course none of us know what the Eagles are thinking with regards to moving Lane to the left side … so Cam still remains in play at 14.

Solomon Thomas DE/DT
*** Thomas is an interesting player in that he can play either End or Tackle in the 4-3. His versatility is what would make him the most valuable to us. Strong and athletic kid who's the definition of a tweener. We had a player like this back in the day, but his name escapes me … we would use him at both positions depending on the situation. I think Thomas goes prior to our pick, but I honestly don't know how I would feel about him if he slides to 14. I would rather have Barnett if we go Dlineman.

You could add Taco to your list AND it would not surprise me if the Eagles go with a DE at #14 or with Foster if he falls.
I also think the Eagles would do well to add play makers like OJ or Reddick.

Riddick cn't be drafted @ #14. too early. If they trade back, then OK.

From what I have seen since I've been watching Reddick tape after the Senior Bowl I honestly see one of the best football players in this draft. He actually came to Temple as a Cornerback and has been used at LB and End since. His playing speed and ability match his Combine #'s. He sheds blocks in a variety of ways and his hands are extremely violent. His tackling is flat out nasty and he hits you like a missile. I think he's going to be a heck of a player no matter where they line him up and the only reason we haven't seen him too often in the first round in mocks is because people have missed the boat on him. I think he's a top 25 pick when it's all said and done.

My bad, it is Reddick. I keep calling him Riddick.

Barnett is the guy I want in round 1. I am in the minority but I think the pass rush is where they are going. Schwartz defense is predicated on the front four getting pressure. In order for that to work they need high caliber players at every position up front. They have Cox and Graham and nothing else. I personally would be looking to find a corner via trade at this point and then concentrate on corner, RB and DT as the draft moves on.

Barnett looks more like a 3-4 guy.

Anyone catch highlights of John Ross' Pro Day? Just ridiculous cutting ability on his routes. If he stays healthy he will be a weapon for some team.

Rueben Foster. Jamal Adams. Malik Hooker. Jonathan Allen (I know, he won't be there). Malik McDowell.

McDowell is a really interesting guy ... 295 lbs and ran a 4.85 at the Combine. A ton of talent, but he lacks moves. Once he gets a pro coach to school him on counter moves and pass rush moves in general, he could be a heck of a player. He, alongside Fletcher Cox would make things really interesting.

If it's me I'm taking one of these offensive playmaking studs:

OJ Howard
Dalvin Cook
Corey Davis
John Ross

I love all these guys as NFL prospects and definitely not shying away from grabbing a WR even after Alshon and Smith. We still need offensive firepower, especially for the longterm, and Smith was a good pickup and is a solid deep threat, but he's nothing special and probably just plays out his contract at best. Hopefully Alshon stays healthy and we can reward him with a big contract, which is ideal but not certain. Corey Davis is my #1 WR in this draft, and I love Mike Williams. Love Ross, but he's got the injury tag, and he's not that big, usually not a great combination. Absolute stud if he can stay healthy. Unfortunately for both Sidney Jones and us he got hurt -- feel bad for the kid. As far as the draft goes now, these are my top 4 guys I'm targeting at 14.

Any 4 of these guys would help out with Wentz growth (and this offense) tremendously. I like the state of our o-line right now, and we need to target a CB in the 2nd (and hopefully soon in FA) in this scenario.

I'm not exactly sure why Barnett's stock is dropping. I suspect this is the time of the year where measurables outweigh tape, and that's the only reason this can happen.

We should draft a pass rusher at 14, and Barnett is at the top of my list.

I know we just signed a couple of receivers, but Ross/Davis/Williams is still very much in play for me at 14. I don't think just because we signed Jeffery and Smith it should deter us from taking a receiver in the 1st. Other than that, in no particular order:

- Derek Barnett
- Ryan Ramczyk
- Garrett Bolles
- Jonathan Allen (if the shoulder issue causes him to drop)
- Reuben Foster (also has injury concerns that might cause him to drop)
- OJ Howard
- Jabrill Peppers
- Forrest Lamp

Not peppers @ #14, but a late 1 or early 2nd round pick, sure.

I also think we go defense n the 1st. And, we get anther WR in the 3rd or later. one with speed.

You guys that want more offense, are you aware how crippling the lack of talent is on this defense?

The defense is mostly built up the middle (expensively) and not built at all on the edges. Our edge talent has to be the worst and shallowest in the entire league. We have Brandon Graham and literally absolutely nothing else. Nothing at OLB. Nothing at the other end spot. Nothing at cornerback.

We cannot win big games with that dreck out there.

If they don't go corner back, I think they absolutely need to get a pass rusher. Missing so badly on Marcus Smith hurts.

Thanks Chip! Howie took the blame for that pick, but I think Chip made the call.
