And, over the last 3 years, the Pats offense has scored more points per game while being 28th in rushing yards per attempt (Packers are 6th). And the difference in TDs is due in part because the Pats have 13 more rushing TDs in the last 3 years, while Rodgers has thrown 16 more TDs than Brady that were 10 yards or fewer. Pats just run it in more.

Plus the Pats have scored more points in the playoffs in that span with, once again, fewer yards per attempt on the ground. 4.60 for the Packers and 3.20 for the Patriots.

He's also been outed as a cheater.
Thank goodness too. Since they fixed that ball problem, the Pats are 29-6 with Brady, and Brady's throwing 305 yards/game, with 80 TDs, 16 INTs, and a 103.5 QB rating.

I don't think anyone is saying that SBs period should define anything. But Ben and Rivers have nearly identical stats, so it's not like people who advocate for Ben are simply going by Super Bowls.

In an nutshell, that's what an idiotic Steeler fan basically claimed in this thread. Not only are their numbers (Rivers/Ben) in the regular season on par, but so are their playoff #'s (on a comparative scale.) The biggest difference by far, are the respective franchises/teams. When was the last time Roethlisberger was collecting a ring? That would be when Pittsburgh had the #1 rated defense in football - something they have accomplished four times in the Ben era. They haven't had a #1 defense in a good 5 years....and no Super Bowls either. Coincidence?

Rivers hasn't even been on a double-digit win team in 8 years....if anything...it's been mostly Rivers who has kept that thing from being the absolute worst team in the league.

The Steelers are also known as one of the premiere franchises in the NFL whereas the Chargers are known as a joke. There are other factors involved....Bottom line is, I judge players by what THEY predominantly do...and not what the team result is. I give far more credit to a player who plays well in a loss than I do to a player who sucks in a win.

Sure....<checking>....'carried?' Nope. Not one game where he had over 30 attempts. Not one game where the defense gave up 20 points or more. Sucked pretty much as bad as any QB on a winning team in SB history. Of course, given that 8 TD's/1 int. ratio for that playoff season (which obviously is very good)....Benny has a total playoff career TD/Int ratio of 25/23....not exactly some playoff master in his career.

None of this is really in response to what I said. I don't care about what some Steeler fans are talking about. You just went on a rant that didn't have any relation to my post.

How is it back tracking when I am taking his entire playoff career? You're the one who wants to fixate on one playoff run, not me.

I simply expanded my position to show that it isn't merely SB's, but how the player actually plays, the surrounding casts in question....the actual functioning of the franchises themselves.

Yes I get that. But Roethlisberger and Rivers have the same individual stats, and then add in Roethlisberger's postseason runs in 2005 and 2008. Break them down individually if you'd like, he put together a good run to get them to the Super Bowl and a good run to win the Super Bowl. Rivers hasn't done that. So like I said, in order to put Rivers over Roethlisberger, you have to completely ignore that part.

Because a playoff run is how you actually win a championship. Having a great divisional round game and then sucking in the AFCCG doesn't do anyone any good.

And if you want to look at the whole playoff career, for Rivers, the Chargers defense has allowed 19.8 points per game. The Steelers have allowed 21 for Roethlisberger (and that's taking out the pick 6's).

...and as I said, when Benny was doing that, his defense was a perennial #1 ranked unit. In general, he hasn't made a full SB run since those times. Rivers has had fewer chances with generally lesser teams, and hasn't had a legit chance in a good 8-10 in doing so. You have to look at much, much more than just defensive points allowed, as it was only just one example.

OF the 3 QB's being talked about Philip Rivers has by far been the scariest of the group to play in my opinion. He has also just not had as good of a team around him so haven't always worried about losing to the Chargers. Rivers though is the one that I just worry every time the ball is in the air that it will be into the tightest window and somehow his guy is the one that comes down with it.

No....I said in general that SB's (as in # of rings) themselves shouldn't define how good a player is. I judge players by how they actually perform in wins and losses. Do you think you can grasp it this time? Do I need pie charts and flow graphs?

Rodgers and Peyton couldn't beat Seattle and he did. @Arizona, Seattle is about as brutal as 2 weeks get and still over 7.0 YPA.
A top 10 NFL QB that never sniffed a SB.
