I don't think Butler is worth anywhere near that much

He's a good, not great player

He's a very good player with a very bad attitude.

Butler is a proven all star. Franchise player? No. Can he be the 2nd best player on a championship team? Absolutely. Clarkson's career path is Jamal Crawford. Julius Randle is Markieff Morris (still good but not some stud). I'd do that deal easily

Lakers not going to win more than 30 games, and the only way their chances drop more is if they could fall close to the record Brooklyn has - 9 wins and that's not happening. I think Luke has to play the kids regardless of who wins or loses at this point and get them ready for next season. That top three pick has caught my eye, but it's a lot to hope for that the Lakers would be that lucky again

They need to get below the Suns and stay there (currently 1/2 game above). The odds of two teams jumping into the top 3 over the Lakers in the lottery are pretty small.

There was a report that Pacers put a 1st rounder on the table for help. I say go ahead and make it happen

Apparently the Wizards and Jazz are also on this path, and the Raptors may be as well. They likely aren't ALL targeting Williams, but I believe Washington and Utah are.

Yeah, so far, it looks like the Jazz and Wizards are interested in getting Williams. The Lakers are said to be looking for a 1st round pick. Maybe they can play those 2 against each other and get a little more?

Lakers have to take salary back, which is where it gets tricky. Preferably that salary would be expiring (or passed onto a third team). Would likely be Mack/Ingles/1st from Utah. Washington is tough, as there aren't enough expirings that fit without involving a third team, maybe Burke/Satoransky/1st for Lou/Huertas? I doubt they will give up Oubre. If Toronto gets involved, maybe Lou for Sullinger/Powell/1st?

There are definitely some options available. Lou is on a pretty cap friendly deal, so the Lakers wouldn't have to take back too much in salary. If they could get an expiring or a young player with a some upside plus a 1st round pick, that would be good.

I doubt it would happen, but if the Jazz aren't high on Exum anymore, maybe get him and a 1st for Lou. Exum will at least play defense (which the Lakers need) and he becomes an RFA after next season. They could give him the rest of this season and all of next season to earn a spot, or let him walk if he doesn't.

Actually, the Lakers don't have to take any salary back. I don't know all the caps details but Lou to Jazz gets through the Trade Machine with no other assets. Jazz are way below cap number.

For Toronto, Lakers would probably have to take someone like Sullinger.

I think Lou for Jazz first round pick is about as good as Lakers will do.

Surprised, Jazz are actually $13.6M under the cap. Maybe they want Deng or Mozgov too, lol!

The deal the Lakers should have done was Ingram for Cousins - That was a bad deal for Kupchak to pass on that one

It could not have been that simple. Vlade would have been insane not to do it.

It had to be something like Lakers were offering Randle or Russell ... maybe Clarkson ... plus future pick -- but the Kings said Ingram had to be part of the package. At that point, Lakers said they would not add Ingram to the package (or replace Clarkson with Ingram).

I guess. The Lakers get a late first round pick for a quality 6th man. Not a bad deal but it doesn't seem like a great deal to me.

I think he was criticizing the Lakers for not dealing Ingram for Cousins. The reports are that the Kings were trying hard for Ingram.
