Then trade up and take one, thats how badly we need one.
We would have to trade our 1st, 2nd, and our 4th (if we had one) to move up to about #15 to take a flyer on a T.
You sure that is a good idea?

For one thing, its too early to say how many first round OTs there are. Draft boards are in protoform right now and will look very different come draft day.

I would bet 4 or 5 OTs go round one. All i want is for our FO to do what it takes to get one that can be a good starter.

If we go into 2017 with fant at lt and gilliam at rt, just forget it, we wont advance past the divisional round again. It wont matter what depth picks we make on defense.

While true, there is no telling who's going to be taken in 3 months, there's no reason to have this conversation at all if we have to wait for the draft to see exactly what teams think of certain players. I know you don't like thinking too far beyond "something must happen, so make it happen", but there's a lot more logistics to making the things happen that you're asking, and in many cases, are against the established way the Seahawks do things.

As far as Fant/Gilliam - that remains to be seen. There's no telling what will happen after this offseason. Gilliam could look like the RT that he was starting to look like at the end of 2015, and shore up that position. Fant could benefit from an offseason playing the position and learning and could be what he showed flashes of raw ability to be this season. Hell, Seattle could let Gilliam walk and move into the season with Odhiambo starting at RT.

Seattle is a position that they haven't had since Carroll arrived. They have the opportunity to have all 5 starting linemen for the season return for the next season. Even if Gilliam leaves, that's still 4. If Carroll is honest in his assessment of the line - they may not draft an OLineman at all this draft, not just not in the first round.

Of course he's sure. That's been the crux of this whole conversation.

Trading players is a possibility too, i will be surprised if graham is on the team next year.

Seems like they want to keep willson, and it makes no sense to have $15m+ in cap space for TE.

So who knows, maybe graham is draft day trade bait.

How often do you see player for player trades in the NFL? Graham for Unger, player for player trade was very rare and still is... Not sure I would count on that...

And with that, nearly half of the teams picking ahead of us could look at OL before us.

So then what? Start fant and gilliam again?

It's the most likely scenario. I know you hate it. You've written about it over and over. But, Pete wants to play the long game - which means developing your own line. It was bumpy this season, and they were as inconsistent as the rest of the team, but they're still young and could actually improve in the coming seasons.

If there is a 1st round caliber offensive linemen still available by the time we get to our pick at #26 we have to take him

If not then I want to rebuild LOB

1st Round

1) Sidney Jones (CB - Washington)
- He is 6'0 with long arms and good ball skills. High football IQ, good enough speed for the NFL, and a willing tackler on run defense

2) Adoree Jackson (CB - USC)
- Electric player on special teams and a promising prospect at cornerback in the NFL. Jones definitely has better size and length, but I think Jackson can be a hell of a playmaker and disruptor on this defense

2nd or 3rd Round

1) Budda Baker (S/CB - Washington)
- Budda would be an immediate insurance as backup safety for Earl, but I'd like to mold him into a slot corner kind of like Tyrann Mathieu

Hey, didn't watch much Huskies football this year, so was wondering about Kevin King. Is he anything worth keeping in the back of our minds in the late 2nd or 3rd?

That spells disaster. Gilliam has had 2 years now and hasnt improved. Fant starts on maybe a few college teams, and not good ones. Backup AT BEST on any other nfl team

If we end up taking an o-linemen in the first round and Kevin King is still available in the 2nd or 3rd round, I wouldn't hesitate to take him

Sidney Jones is more technically sound at this point but King being 6'3 might be ideal for our system. Two 6'3 corners (Sherman and King) on the outside with Kam and Earl on the back end...that's an LOB opposing QBs will fear once again

King also played safety with UW too so he adds some versatility to the team

See this is real life. Sometimes your only choice isn't a good choice.

Why'd we sign Sowell? Did anyone think that was actually going to pay off big? Nope. But there was nobody else.

Logically then, P+J have to be fired. Drawn and quartered in Pike Street Market would be better.

Im not the GM, thats up to them

Anybody with two braincells to rub together can identify OT as a desperate need. Ignoring the need because nobody will be there at 26 would be a tragedy

No. Taking someone who's no better, or is worse, than what we have at #26 would be a tragedy. Teams draft solely need all the time - they're called the Browns.

Last thing I want to do is reach for a tackle in the first round that probably doesn't deserve to get drafted until late 2nd or 3rd round and miss out on a talent at a different position elsewhere

Last year's draft was a prime example

We took Germain Ifedi who hasn't panned out (So far) while Derrick Henry was still on the board

A Henry and Prosise combo would have been a great thunder and lightning tandem. That would have allowed Rawls to fully recover and he would have been thrown into the mix around week 4-5

Ifedi hasn't 'panned out?'

No he's not an instant all-pro as a rookie starter. But he showed he could fit right in. The middle of the line is certainly the reason to be optimistic. Look at how the worm turned when Ifedi went out in the ATL game.
