UM Fire
The man, the myth, the legend
When the opponent puts 9 in the box and dares you to throw... you THROW
That's what I'm saying. He kind of goes unnoticed, but he continues to make plays and runs hard. If he has a hole, he really runs through it.Okay, Higdon made me a believer on that one.
It's amazing to me that we're scoring more points than pretty much any Michigan team in the past 80 years with a QB that threw 16/23 for 253 yards, 2 TDs and 0 INTs and people aren't satisfied. I think you have unrealistic expectations for what a college QB in this type of offense is supposed to be.McCaffrey can't come on campus soon enough.

Don't forget -- UM has Brandon Peters, who, after a year in the weight program, should be ready. He was as highly rated as McCaffrey. So I'm hoping he is ready next year, though I will say, Speight actually played really well today.
I'm not saying Peters will be another Andrew Luck, but that was the QB they compared him to. Big arm, athletic and someone the staff said was a natural at the QB position. I expect him to push Speight for the QB spot next year.
Peters is bigger than McCaffrey too. I think Dylan is going to have to wait in line
Forgot about Peters. McCaffrey will probably redshirt for the weight program as well if that's the case. He is only like 180-190 at 6'4.I agree, though with the genetics the McCaffrey family have (Grandpa was an olympic silver medalist sprinter, dad was a great NFL WR, mom was the captain of the Duke soccer team) -- I don't see putting on weight being too much of an issue for him.
I do think he will sit at least a year. After that -- I think Harbaugh has shown -- whoever they feel is the best option will be the QB. He replaced Alex Smith with Kaepernick, when Smith was having a career best season. So whoever is playing the best will definitely be the guy.

It says he was ranked 61th in the nation and the 6th best pro style.Yeah -- Peters ended last year as the 34th ranked player with 247, which is actually 10-15 spots higher than McCaffrey is ranked right now.
So between Peters and McCaffrey -- we should have a legit QB under center. Though, I will say this -- Some of the passes Speight made yesterday, especially on some of the intermediate routes 20, 25, 30 yards downfield -- he looked great.
I want to see that against better competition until I'm sold on Speight being much improved.
