Goff or Wentz would have been ideal obviously, but I was realistically hoping for someone like Paxton Lynch or Dak. Not sure if they hit or not, but I figured we just HAD to try something instead of continuing with these idiots.

"HAD to try something" is very likely next off-season. For me it isn't quite 'try something' but i got the gist.

Don't think Gabbert nor Ponder is signed past this season? I doubt Kaep will play worth his contract, and hence be kept another season? MAYBE Ponder gets in the action this season, and shows enough to be the next bridge?

Otherwise, difficult to see us keeping even two of these three?

I agree I think we will see only 1 next year and Kap won't be that one because of his salary. Now if Kap catches on fire this season I actually think that might be bad news for 49ers because then they won't draft a QB in the 1st rd.

So in a weird little way I don't want to see Kap on the field because I don't want the staff to think they rebuilt him and they don't need a QB.

I wasn't big on this class.
No. In the draft poll I picked Buckner. I said I would be ok with Goff but wasn't thrilled with this class. Go check back in the NFL draft poll. I wasn't sold On wentz. Go look at thread some good reads what people posted.
Well yea. I was posting of QBs as was the discussion.

Just throwing something out there for you. U posted preseason stats. Anything catch your eye.

1) Gabbert 95 passer rating, 6.3 yards per attempt (Week 1)
2) Gabbert 89.6 passer rating, 7.67 yards per attempt (Week 2)
3) Kaepernick 78 passer rating, 6.0 yards per attempt (Week 4)
4) Gabbert 77 passer rating, 4.67 yards per attempt (Week 4)
5) Kaepernick 42.4 passer rating, 2.3 yards per attempt (Week 3)

I notice Gabbert regressed each week and Kap got better in the offense.

Sure, kind of. His passer rating was lower in week 2 but his yards per attempt was higher. I chose to rank his week 1 game higher, but that's actually subjective on my part. What isn't subjective id that Gabbert had the two best games of the pre season. As I mentioned, his week three performance included a grand total of 3 passes, which is hardly anything, but if you want to count that sure I guess.

Since you didn't respond to anything I said, I'll ask again.

You said the stats show that Kaep had a better pre season. I showed the stats of their games ranked, in which only Kaep's best game was better than Gabbert's worst game (which only included 3 passes). Gabbert's two best games were better than both of Kaepernick's games.

So, once again, what the hell stats were you talking about that show that Kaepernick was better in the preseason?

Because I knew the team sucked and it didnt matter. I also said we should cut Kap and draft a QB.

THis team can actually be decent this year.

When the team sucks, you don't want to try anything new? I'm not following your logic here. Let me see if I have this right.

When the team sucks, you would rather keep the team the same and continue to have the team suck. When the team sucks, you would not be interested in making changes. Is that about right? Because that doesn't make any sense to me.

Didn't you also say that we should build our team around Kaepernick? Then you said we should cut him. Not sure how you can hold both of those positions unless you changed your mind on him. But yes, we should have cut Kaepernick, and we should still cut Kaepernick. I agree with you there.

Yes Kaps 2nd game was the best showing out of the 2. I look at the game as a whole. not just stats. Real fans watch the game and make their opinion. Gabbert 1st game Hyde went off. It had nothing to do with Gabbert. Ponder actually looked better after his 1st game.

No Im saying I don't care about the QB situation last year. I was ok with a switch. I hated that it was Gabbert but he showed he can be a good back up QB.

So your opinion that Kaepernick looked better in preseason is not based on stats or actual facts then. You could have just said that from the beginning.

The stats show that Gabbert clearly had the best 2 games. Of course, you can believe whatever you want to believe, but my opinion is based on the actual facts.

So what do you want?

Kaep to be cut or Kaep to take the starting position. You've stated both and I don't see how that even remotely makes sense. But I agreed with you when you said you want Kaep cut.

Right now I would give him a shot. Again u are getting confused. I said after last year I was ok if we cut Kap if we drafted a QB. Well we didn't draft one so he stays on the team.

What u don't get is I don't care if Kap is on this team or not. If he is on the team give him a shot if he isn't u move on. Its not that big of a deal.

I think I'm starting to understand your opinion.

You think Kaepernick is better than Gabbert despite the stats clearly showing the exact opposite because you "look at the game as a whole. not just stats." So you choose to ignore the actual facts and go from there.

And I think maybe we're in agreement about cutting Kaep this year and drafting a new quarterback. Because it's not a big deal if Kaep is on this team or not, he's not going to make us better and he's not the future answer. Yes?

Xponentialchaos, Roma and any other Gabbert fan/supporter:
Not to rub this in your face but I hope this opens up your eyes. Gabbert is trash and we have 2 better QBs on the bench. The Guy can't throw past 5 yards. receivers are starting to get frustrated on the bad throws. Kelly stopped throwing the ball because of how bad he is.

I really think Front office is telling Chip not to play Kap. This was a perfect game to put him in the 4th Q.

Nobody here is saying that Gabbert is good. He's not. He's just way better than any of the other quarterbacks we have. This includes the actual facts on the QB's who can throw the ball down field and every other stat.

You were right - we should cut Kaepernick because he is not our future.

It's not only that....Kaepernick plays and gets injured. Well...the garbage gets to stink yet another year. How can any so-called 49er 'fan' want that? There is zero doubt I would rather put up with Gabbert's crap all season than to see one snap from Kaepernick...and that is most definitely for the better of the team in the future.

This season has started literally exactly as last season....we are heading to a 4-12 type season....Colin Kaepernick does NOTHING to get us going, but he can set us back by being on the roster next season.

If you really believe that you are another one I cant talk football about. Its Clear he is not the best option for this team. U need to throw the football if you play QB. He cant throw the football.

Please man up and just say you are wrong. Its getting bad on your part man. Be honest with yourself and stop being a moron like Roma. You are better then that.

This Game just ended any argument that Gabbert should be the starter. Leads the league in 3 and outs. Leads the league with the least amount of completions past 10 yards, One of the worst Accuracy passers in the league. Here are some other stats for you guys.

Last in Yards, 2nd to last in Completion %(Keenum last), 3rd to last in Rating, 2nd to last in yards per game,

Its clear as hell. Move on. Next QB in.

Then why have him as the #2 QB? If he gets hurt you cut him.

because his contract has a guarantee in event of injury, so you'd cut him but still pay him. you'll pay for someone not on the team, but affects the cap by upwards of $14M.

Please don't replay with "but we have cap", why? because having cap space doesn't mean you can make 'haphazard' decisions. i'm only responding to this specific post, which IMO is haphazard. then next year you grumble about why we don't sign top FA's, why we don't extend our good players, etc.

Ok back to the 1st part of the question. Why have him as your #2 then.

Yup. He's not good. No disagreement here and I never said he was the future. I simply said that he's better than Kaepernick because he is. The facts prove it.

The best quarterback on our team is Gabbert. Yes, it's that bad. Kaepernick rightfully lost his job to Blaine fucking Gabbert.

Let's cut the worst and most expensive QB on our team (Kaepernick). And bring someone else in.
