Red lobster might just be the worst seafood restaurant on earth. It's primarily prefabricated frozen food. Any true New Englander would never waste his money there. The elderly eat there because the food is soft and has a strong flavor. My wife calls it fake fish.

You guys won't eat Red Lobster but you'll go apeshit over Dunkin Donuts up there?

I was actually in Boston about a year ago. Didn't have seafood, but I went to a (Mexican?) restaurant that had a view to the harbor.

I thought Anthony's Pier 4 closed? or am I thinking of another place? or is it going to close? I remember hearing something about this during the summer

Closed and the Pier torn down...

The Clam place that is the most famous is Woodmans of Essex in Ipswich??. Supposedly fried clams were first invented there.

Legal Seafoods is a very safe bet although expensive. No-name is good.

It's the coffee not the donuts. The donuts were good when every store cooked their own donuts and made the local favorites. Now they're cooked in a main location, all prefab and they pretty much suck.

Clam Chowder is great at any place not named Cheers. It sucks there.

Union Oyster house is nice for tourists. Across from the Holocaust museum in a very old part of the city. Lots of history there

In Boston, the city, the most famous place to get any seafood is a "Legal Seafood".

The best places to get the tasting seafood is outside of the Boston city proper. Take a ride up Route 1 toward Maine and you'll hit a lot of small old restaurants that have been serving great seafood since 1900. If it's clams you want, go to Ipswich, MA. Ipswich clams are the best in the world and there isn't a bad place to get them. Steamed, boiled or fried, it has no equal. The only seafood I can eat are fried clams and Ipswich fried clams have no equal.

By the way, the best lobsters come from Maine. That's about an hour north of Boston. The best seafood in my opinion in New England is Huot's Restaurant. Located in Camp Ellis, Maine about 5 miles beyond Old Orchard Beach, Maine. Huot's is located where the Saco River meets the Atlantic Ocean. My family owned a camp in Camp Ellis when I was a kid. Clam Cakes were $.05 and pint of French fries were $.15 in 1955. Today the cakes (best the world) are $1.25 and pint of fries is $2.25. My wife and I still drive up there for a dinner at least once every summer.

This is words of wisdom. Maine has the best seafood in NE.

There it is folks, we have a winner!

Oh heck yeah...we had friends that used to live in Beverly, and we would go up to Woodmans' when we visited. A lil' pricey but worth it. Loved the ice cream place out back, too.

As has been said in all seriousness, the best places are these local joints that have been around for a century. Just look for a faded sign with a fish, lobster or crab on it and a full parking lot.

Yeah I've been a few times but it's been a while. It's quaint. Supposedly Daniel Webster ate at the raw bar and it's near Fanuiel Hall which is convenient. I thought the food was decent even if there are probably better seafood restaurants around. If I remember correctly the seafood casserole of shrimp, scallops and fish was pretty awesome.

Woodmans is still REALLY good. A bit out of the way.

Just keep away from da crabbs

As someone who grew up in Baltimore, most New England Crabcakes suck. Don't get them. The only ones that aren't bad that I found pretty close were at Legal Seafood although there might be others. There's tons of better seafood to get in New England than crabcakes. Even just the straight fish is good.

Going up the Maine coast for good Lobsters and Lobster rolls is a no-brainer. Easy. Just don't go to Red Lobster. You can do better.
