Where's the other category? All of these are bad but, they're team sports. The worst IMO is the 1999 collapse of Jean Van De Velde in the Brittish open. He went into the last hole up three strokes. Triple bogied the hole and lost in a playoff. Unlike team sports you have no one to blame but yourself in golf. With the others, pundits will claim, refs, a certain play/player or injury caused the loss:doh:

For this poll I have to say GS losing 3 in a row, two at home is a terrible pill to swallow. The Skankees would've been my vote but it was the ALCS. As for the Pats see my pundit comment above:dhd:

Biggest individual choke to me was Greg Norman in the Masters.

Its the Yankees because it led to the Red Sox getting out of the 'underachiever' teams list and into sports history. It fundamentally changed how their biggest rival was viewed.

Warriors and Patriots didn't exactly look like the 85 Bears in their playoff series. It wasn't out of this world shocking when the Giants beat the Patriots. The Giants definitely looked like the better team in the NFC Championship game and most people know that defense wins championships in the NFL.

All three were good, or make that bad actually, but since I don't put a ton of stock into the NBA reg season...73 is obviously all-time, but imo it doesn't carry as much weight as 18-0 and one game away from the SB.

FWIW...I picked the Cavs to win the series in 6....even down 3-1, I thought it might still get to game 7.

Yep, Norman had an epic collapse as well. Didn't he claim he was working on his swing? WTF is that during the Masters on the final day you decide to work on your swing?

Jordan Spieth's collapse this past Masters has to be up there too. I mean considered at the time the best golfer in the entire world and the guy just completely fell apart.

He had a horrible hole. He quadruple bogeyed #12. He then played the final 6 holes at 1 under and shot a 73. Hardly what I would call "falling apart".

nice call...I lost money on the series.

Green being out gm 5, I really thought CLE would win that one and gm 6 @ home I thought they for sure they didn't want GS celebrating on their floor again...I didn't have these kind of balls, but my cousin took 6 to 1 odds on CLE winning the series while down 3-1...off $150, he pocketed $750.

Yeah, not a total melt down...more of a microwave variety...It's how quickly he lost it...had a 5 shot lead at the turn...#12 has killed more than 1 Masters champion

Agreed...he gagged big time in that one...so much so that even Faldo felt sorry for him. That was his biggest collapse, but he was victimized on great shots by Larry Mize, another time by Bob Tway...I'm leaving out a couple more....didn't realize he was working on his swing, but he was #1 in the world so what could he be working on?

It was actually just one horrific shot.

Van De Velde was terrible but he didn't lose it on the 72nd hole...at least he lived for the playoff, but was probably still in shock.

Phil at Wingfoot...while only leading by one, he LOST it on the 72nd hole...bogey and he probably mops the floor with Oglivy the next day...he made dbl.

Guess it was easier than claiming he had the yips and couldn't figure it out? Kind of sounds like my golf game.

Nothing will ever top Miami-Ohio's collapse against Boston University in the NCAA Hockey final. They were up 3-1 with a minute left and lost in OT. All they had to do was clear the puck once. They couldn't.

A triple Bogey on the final hole for a pro is unheard of. Heck, pros are so good he could've used his putter tee to green and likely salvaged only a double.

Only reason I didnt vote for the Yankees is because it was not the World Series, but a conference championship.

I would also include the Bruins losing a 3-0 lead against the Flyers, if we are including the Yankees.

Honestly the Yankees should run away with this poll but I don't think enough people watch baseball here to understand the magnitude.

I disagree. The Yanks had no business being up 3-0 in that series with their awful starting pitching. Still a tremendous choke though

Forgot about that one. Yep, right up there in the running for number one.
