So a friend of mine just had a spot open up in a 12 team keeper. You only get to keep 1 guy and the buy in is $150. 20 man roster, have to have 3 QB's, 2 TE's, 2 K's and 2 D's and no limit on RB/WR. Start 1QB,2RB,2WR,1TE,K and D. Season lasts all the way until the SB, so you kinda have to think playoffs from the beginning. Anyway, the only 2 guys worth keeping at their draft position would be JStew at 17 or tRed Rifle at 9. JStew seems like a no brainer but with no flex I'm wondering if Dalton at 9 is a better deal, since I have to carry 3 QB's. Can keep Maclin as a 10th too I guess. Anyway, any thoughts on draft strategy in a league like this? Seems like I'd be better served filling out my starters before even thinking about depth (that's not how I usually draft, btw).

With only one keeper, i don't think that affects anything towards how to draft... Also the playoff thing, i don't care about either... don't worry about being there, worry about making it first...

So, i don't see any change to a normal draft...

Yeah, just never played in a league where you only start 2 RB/WR and no flex.................so depth doesn't seem quite as important................

When do you have to declare? Hopefully, you have time to let it play out. Just in case something happens and the Panthers get younger at RB. Probably not, but something to consider. All things equal, though, I think JStew is the best value.

I would take Stewart because of the likelihood he makes a deep playoff run.

Kinda crazy, but that is actually the biggest reason I'm thinking of keeping him......................but 2 playoff teams went without QB's in this league this year................

Not crazy at all Sam. You can't win if your guys don't make the playoffs

Yup. I'm gonna rank guys different for this league when I get my lists together.
You're a better man than me for trying this. Just seems like a crazy strategy. You not only need to draft to win each week but you also need to shape your rankings around playoff teams.

I would imagine that as the year progresses, and playoff teams start to take shape, TRADES become much more strategic (and probably wildly lopsided).

Imagine trading for Alex Smith as KC kept winning in 2015. Would Ted Ginn have been worth a trade for say, Adrian Peterson? He might if the playoffs were involved.

Just thinking about the unimaginable scenarios is giving me a headache.

Dude was telling me there were only 3 trades made last year..............I would have thought more too TBH.......I don't think my rankings will change too much as like you said, you have to get there first..........just saying guys like Rawls, DJohnson and (insert Bronco's RB here) might move up a spot or 2 for this draft OR could go the other route as there should be some pretty killer values out there with the other owners thinking about the playoffs. Cool thing is there is a pretty good possibility guys like Hilton, Luck, Forsett, Romo, Dez,DMurray and, well you get what I mean........they could all drop farther than they should..........those teams all under performed last year

Then QB may be the hot ticket. Just curious... Did the guy who owned Cam win it all last season?

I'm moving guys up if they play for the Panthers, Steelers, Patriots, or Seahawks in this format.
I think we'll see those 4 teams in the playoffs again next season, and their offenses seem set in their ways.

I wish some of you guys were local. I need two people to take over teams in one of my dynasty leagues
