Did we lose Gionta?

He's still here but I'm not sure how much love he'll get from the new regime. He was certainly one of Deboer's boys but there were plenty of times last year where he looked like he was wasting a roster spot. The Stephen Gionta era was fun but I wouldn't mind him rotating in and out as a healthy scratch/injury replacement type.

He fits the speed angle and works like a dog, IMO.

The Peter Harrold era is over, signed with the Blues. I for one am going to miss the unforced icings at the worst possible moments.

Gelinas gets a 2 year deal worth a total of $3.15 million. He'll be 26 and still an RFA when it's up. Solid deal.

I thought setting the contract up so he's not a UFA at the end was great...and not too pricey either

yeah having him come up an RFA not a UFA. not only increases his value to us buuuuuuuuuuuuuut to a possible trade chip for a team knowing you will have leverage over this guy for the foreseeable future

He's a big dude, physical defender, I liked him during his brief stint here. Lock all these guys up, gives us plenty of breathing room in terms of depth.

Love this move. Nothing at all against Zubrus, it's just the direction the team is going (Younger, faster, etc.). From his standpoint, probably helps him out too. We all know the Devils are in full rebuild mode. So, the odds of them competing for even a playoff spot are low. Zubrus could probably still help another team and have a better shot at making a run.

Was just going to post Zubs being put on waivers... wow... we are getting a makeover... I was a fan of Zubs, not going to hide but there are times to call for a depart and now is as good as any....
