We probably won't venture to far outside the actual campus/stadium itself with our hotel being so close. We'll probably just go back to the hotel after the game since its a 7:30 start and probably an 11:00 or so finish time. More so for things before the game. And is South Bend considered central time? Honest question I have no idea, without looking it up.
It is Eastern Time. Until about 6 yrs ago the entire state of Indiana minus a pocket by Chicago and Down South did not observe daylight savings time. Now we have to change our clocks. Damn commies.

Okay, that's what I thought but wasn't sure, because isn't Chicago considered Central? And they are relatively close to each other.

Yep Chicago is Central. You are about 2 hrs to downtown Chicago from SB. Depending on traffic and construction which is really high right now.

Damn, hope it isn't that way in September. Hopefully coming in on friday night will help with there being less traffic.

Well coming from where you are at you miss the construction. Unless you are flying into Chicago. If you are flying into Chicago at Ohare then you will hit construction on I-294, I-80, I-94. Depending on how you leave from Ohare. When it gets closer hit me up and I can tell you how to bypass all of the tolls if you want to. I-80/90 in Indiana is a toll road.

It used to be that half of the year, South Bend was on New York time, and the other half on Chicago time. I believe it is now on Chicago (central, obviously) time all year.

As big a pain in the buttocies as it is to change the clock for Daylight Savings, it is an even bigger pain to live someplace that does not change the clocks when the rest of the world does.

No South Bend is not on Central time. And there was a reason why Indiana did not observe daylight savings time. It gave the farmers an extra hour in the field. This is not a joke. That is why. Now they are talking about going back to not observing it again. Which is great in my opinion.

Man I wish I was going to that ND/Tex game. Not that my team has much of a chance/expectation to win the opening game of the season in South Bend, but just to see a game in ND stadium.

Twas reading on a Texas board, a comment that Horns fans will be shocked at the lack of advertising, signs, videos on a video board, and lack of obnoxious advertising sounds such at the TacoBell bell, at this stadium. Also, very little chit chat from the announcer, just down and distance, etc.

This person said it was a little like CFB's version of Augusta National, just fans and the sport.

I would really like to see it.

I have to admit. It is a cool place to see a game. Especially when your team wins 37-0.

I would be against it if I lived there. But since I don't, it is not my place to tell Hoosiers what to do with their clocks.

It was great as a kid. All the summer TV specials were on at 7 instead of 8 so you could watch them all. Extra hour outside in the summer. And no springing forward. It took just about everyone I know 2-3 yrs to get used to it. I don't like it, but I have been using it since 1990.

Yeah, I've never been to one in South Bend. Grew up in South Central PA and still live in the same area today. It's about a 9 hour drive from where we'll be coming from. We actually already booked our hotel(I can't remember the name of it, my wife booked it, but it's like a mile away from the stadium she said) we're driving up Friday during the day and staying Friday and Saturday night. Any eating suggestions would be much appreciated! We'll be needing to eat lunch on gameday, so any sports bar/grill would be awesome.
Eddy St Commons is loaded with places to eat & drink. It's right 'off-campus'. O'Rourkes is my fave place.

Congrats on your first ND game ... they are special at tBend. :suds:

So to summarize: Texas' season will be so bad they won't even know what time it is?

Is that what I'm reading?

you guys are underestimating Swoopes and not giving UT enough credit. From what I've seen in the off-season, it's looking like Texas is back where it belongs....at the top. Look out TCU and Baylor.

15 Mexicans went up there 20 years ago and fucked shit up. It was the time of our lives back then. Wish we could go again... I almost got the old crew to agree to it.

The 13th game was the EXACT same as the first few last year: lights out D until they tired and gave out, horrible play calling and offensive execution with no leadership, and special teams that left jaws dropped all over the 40 Acres and the great state of Tejas. And has ANYTHING changed in the off-season? No.

6-6 is generous.
