The A's team should, he cost them a runner on 2nd base and an unnecessary out.

Lawrie's right.

Royals fans just keep this going, making it more and more obvious that they're new to baseball.

I'm sure the fanbase will mature if the Royals continue being successful.

He's right and this thread is a perfect example of why he's right

If the fans, of all the things that series, really bother him that much, he should retire. Boohoo. He just is proving my OP to be correct- he's an asshole. The guy who got suspended for throwing a helmet at an ump because he didn't like the call is stupid. A guy like him lecturing about the fans is a joke. If he has a problem with Herrera, fine, I would too. Lawrie trying to moralize random fans is stupid. He won't let it go either, one way or another, so I have no problem with people continuing the thread. If people are going to whine about what is apparently whining, so be it.

I'd prefer if pitchers were above throwing at each other, but if that's what happens, then so be it. I'd also prefer reckless slides like Lawrie had were out of here- this isn't the days of Ty Cobb, or even the 80's with McRae...

He doesn't have any public favor with me, I think he's a stupid dick full of steroids. That said, I still don't think he was trying to injure the Mexican 2nd baseman.

Yes. That would be awesome. Get rid of "reckless" slides at 2nd like they did away with collisions at the plate. Then we can all put on mascara, play grab-ass and tug each other's tampon strings. It's going to be beautiful.

The more I read these Royals comments, the more I think what they need is a trophy for participating in the World Series.

I don't either, I just find it reckless given the context of the situation.

This is what concerns me about what Indians fans would be like if they won something. Of course, the Indians have won a wild card berth before and we didn't come unglued like this, and any fear of the Indians winning the World Series may be less rational than Slink Jr's fear of monsters under his bed.

Is this the thread where we are debating whether or not LAwrie is an asshole?

I have an opinion on that

So, Lawrie has a chance to take the high road after the suspension and fine and what does he do? He continues to fuel the flame by flapping his yap to the media. Think the is a reporter or two that is following Lawrie around asking him what he thinks about KC? Seems to me, Lawrie started this mess with his spikes high slide. Good aggressive baseball, maybe. Spike high takes aggressive baseball out of the equation!!! And, I like aggressive baseball Hal McRae. Then Lawrie gets hit by Ventura. Even Steven right? Should have ended there, but no! Kazmir comes out and plunks Cain! Oh sure, in the foot, Kazmir is the smart one, he made it look like an accident but the message was still sent! Kazmir should have been ejected on the spot just like Ventura was. The umpires totally screwed the pooch on that one and that's why Yost get the boot and the other coaches and Escobar got tossed as well. Kazmir's pitch was a little more than an accident. Kazmir should have been ejected there as well. Herrera was responding to Kazmir's pitch!

The Royals have been hit by pitches more times than any team in the Majors. At some point you don't back down anymore! This is about more than good or bad baseball. This is about intimidation. The new kid on the block pops his head up and all of a sudden everyone else in the neighborhood wants to take a shot at him. I am a Royals fan but I do believe I have enough reasonable judgment to see the situation without too much emotion. I was ok with everything and everyone's mistakes until these latest comments from Lawrie. Seems like a crybaby who just got his ass kicked and instead of running home to mommy, he's talking to the reporters.

Better have a good crew in Oakland! Sounds like it still is unsettled thanks to you Brett!

Interesting. I still have no issue with what he did.

Looks like the ump had his arm cocked ready to call him out no matter what. He was safe, and it was a clean play.

But he still looks safe to me. Just because he would've been safe had he not went in hard doesn't mean what he did was wrong. Or poor sportsmanship or any of that. It looked like a very standard play and it sucks that these athletes think they need to retaliate.
