Should I still draft a pitcher round 1, or wait until round 2 and get two in 2 and 3 and go for a top hitter round 1? By doing the latter, when should I draft a no.3 and no.4?

Something like this
1.Encarnacion or Puig
2.Price
3.Lester
4.Hitter
5.Hitter
6.Wacha
7.Zimmermann

Does that work better?

I would probably get Price in first otherwise and who knows in second between Lester, Strasburg(if he's there), and Bumgarner(if he's there but the ws curse is a concern, its hit Lincecum and Cain neither have been the same since).

I just did a CBS mock, only did four picks and left. But Felix is the fourth ranked pitcher, its Price ranked behind Kershaw so I am definitely going pitcher first round.

And I agree with milk. Sure you can come to a decision pre-draft for your first pick, but after that it depends. You don't pencil in Wacha in the 6th. Nor do you pencil in "hitter hitter" in 3 and 4. Recipe for disaster.

Wacha in the 6th? That's a little high, even for me. ;)

Sorry I been busy over at the NFL forums with all the free agency going on and just left PSR. I don't know where Wacha really is ranked. On ESPN he was 12th round I drafted, but CBS is pushing those pitchers up to the top of the rankings. I'm gonna do a mock tonight through draft wizard and see what happens. My plan is to draft a top pitcher. But I'm gonna miss out on a top 1b if i draft pitchers in first two rounds.

This was the mock I just did(and I have only done just one)
1.Strasburg
2.McCutchen
3.Rizzo(here I realized the mistake of getting McCutchen over a pitcher round 2)
4.Teheran
5.Dozier
6.Keuchel(this would be where I would get my first OF)
7.Heyward
8.Springer
9.Wright
10.Castro
11.Quintana
12.Tillman
13.Gomes
14.Davis
15.Granderson
16.Perkins
17.Papelbon
18.Buehrle
19.Maztek
20.Uehara
21.McCarthy
22.D.Santana

I timed out with the Quintana and Tillman picks those would not have been my draft choices. And also timed out with Uehara and Maztek but Maztek was among my queu'd and I meant for McCarthy to be taken 21st.

Overall
C Gomes, Yan (C CLE) C ·
1B Rizzo, Anthony (1B CHC)
2B Dozier, Brian (2B MIN)
3B Wright, David (3B NYM)
SS Castro, Starlin (SS CHC)
OF McCutchen, Andrew (OF PIT)
OF Heyward, Jason (OF STL)
OF Springer, George (OF HOU)
U Davis, Chris (1B BAL)
P Strasburg, Stephen (P WAS)
P Teheran, Julio (P ATL)
P Keuchel, Dallas (P HOU)
P Quintana, Jose (P CHW)
P Tillman, Chris (P BAL)
P Perkins, Glen (P MIN)
P Papelbon, Jonathan (P PHI)
RES Granderson, Curtis (OF NYM)
RES Buehrle, Mark (P TOR)
RES Matzek, Tyler (P COL)
RES Uehara, Koji (P BOS)
RES McCarthy, Brandon (P LAD)
RES Santana, Danny (OF MIN)

Wacha did indeed go round 6 also. However, I think I will need six pitchers before round 10, three in first five rounds(and two in first two), and three more round 7-9. Or I can just get pitchers rounds 1-4, get Ortiz, and start getting my offense built up and wait on Wright and Davis. I think the pitchers after 9 rounds the top of those are not any I trust and in the later rounds McCarthy came on late last year and Buehrle is usually a good first half pitcher.

I can see there will be no talking you out of anything. McCutchen is a top five pick...2nd round in a 3 team league maybe. Springer in the 8th? Not in any real league. Rizzo on the 3rd?? LOL The pitchers you drafted have no value at those rounds.

Good luck to you sir.

He fell to me in the second round because most of the top ranked player are pitchers. This is points league I'm talking about and aces in two starts have ability to have 50-60 point outings therefore their value is high. You can go do a CBS mock yourself and see how the rankings are. I chose the 10th(last) spot in the draft btw. So I got McCutchen 11th. Thats not impossible to occur. And I'm sorry but those pitchers were next on the board when I drafted them.

Mike Trout is not even ranked in the top five in these rankings. It's
1.Kershaw
2.Price
3.Sale
4.Felix
5.Kluber or Lester

Yes, all pitchers!

But maybe CBS is disguising their real draft again and have hitters actually ranked higher. I'll know tomorrow.

It was a mock! Not everyone showed up in it. But I think I was drafting with people that were going after the top pitchers or 1bs. The first five were gone, Trout was taken first over all over Kershaw, but Goldy, Cabrera, Lester were all taken before McCutchen. I think the Lester pick was a autopick likely. and the fifth was Scherzer not Kluber. He hasn't been on here in some time but TLance was the one who told me to not ignore pitching in CBS leagues. Because I tried like crazy to trade Trout for Kershaw or Felix last year and I got no deals.

What pitchers have no value in what rounds? Strasburg you're talking about and Teheran?

That's right. Strasburg in the top ten is crazy. As is Teheran in the 4th. I don't care what kind of league it is, if Lester is going before McCutchen I want no part of the league.

My main league is CBS points. Pitchers are RANKED higher, but that is because in their standard scoring pitchers score more. Not because they should be picked first.

And that's kind of my point. Mocks on CBS are absolutely useless. If you can get McCutchen and Rizzo and Springer at those prices, your league is not worth playing in.

Well you're gonna hate it and nine people showed up in this league. This was my draft.
1.Price(picked 5th)
2.Lester
3.Rizzo
4.Encarnacion

Yep, I got both those guys in 3 and 4. Everyone except a couple was loading up on double aces, including me.

5.Dozier
6.Gomez
7.Heyward
8.Wacha
9.Ryu
10.Carpenter
11.Castro
12.Calhoun
13.Richards
14.Allen
15.Shoemaker
16.H.Alvarez
17.Street
18.Gomes
19.Gausman
20.Davis(yes, Chris Davis!)
21.McCarthy

I have trade chips. Two top five 1bs and two aces if I need help in the season. And the third could easily bounce back.

C-Gomes
1b-Rizzo
2b-Dozier
3b-Carpenter
SS-Castro
OF-Gomez
OF-Heyward
OF-Calhoun
U-Encarnacion

Backup-Davis
