:wtf:

He came down and took 2 steps!

2 steps while falling does not equal 2 steps denoting a catch.
They say it ALL THE FUCKING TIME on the broadcasts: You have to maintain control of the ball as you go to the ground.
He never took a step where he wasn't falling. I agree that it seems like it should have been a catch, but that isn't the rule.

Something we agree on.

Several shitty calls that went against them, live by the sword, die by the sword, everybody has to deal w it sooner or later.

It really was a great game and kept you glued till the end. I love football! Both teams deserve credit for making it a great one.

Why do you always have to try and get extreme with everything.....

It was close you moron. It was very very close.

Based on what? He clearly did not have possession to the ground, which is what you have to do when you catch it in midair. You talk about two "steps"- but: 1. He never had firm footing in either step. He was just trying to regain balance, which he clearly never did; and 2. Even if we reject 1, he bobbled the ball before the steps and did not gain full position until after the steps. Thus, the steps are irrelevant.

I would have taken 1/25 odds on that call have you given it to me. There are plenty of calls which I say are close calls. Last week's PI call was a very close call. This wasn't. I'm not sure why you can't see that.

Epic way for Dallas to lose. Perfect.

Doesn't take back the bad calls in your game, but it was a bit of justice. Just a little.

And after that screw job last week no Dallas fan can open their mouths about that call today. Going to be a long off season for their fans.

:suds:

he took 2 steps and change hands. wow really bad call. if anything fumble and he recovers. these playoff refs suck
He was going to the ground so he must complete the catch all the way through by rule.

Don't like it but it's the rule.

Also, the ground can't cause a fumble if there is contact although I'm sure you know that...

Watching Dez Bryant mope like that is just deserts for that asshole.

Cowboys shouldn't have even been playing in this game.

By the leet of the law that was not a catch by Bryant.

However the rule has to change. Next season, that kind of play has to be ruled a catch.

Yup... as badly as the vast majority of the FSU players disappearing down the tunnel when they lost to Oregon, rather than man up and congratulate the opponent.

I hate when they changed that rule too, but it does follow the letter of that rule now.

Change the rule, but as long as it is the rule, that was the correct call. I don't care for it, but that's how it is now.

Agreed. That was what I meant to say. Anybody with a brain can tell it's a catch, but by the rule it's not. And not even by the way the rule is written, but the way they choose to interpret it. My argument is that the rule says if in the process of making the catch you go to the ground, ie dive to catch the ball, then you have to possess it the whole way to the ground. That makes sense. If you jump in the air though and come down on your feet (like Calvin Johnson and Dez Bryant both did) and then take steps, my argument is that you didn't go to the ground in the process of the catch. The catch was already made.

So no, the way the rule is written I don't agree that is a correct call. But it is 100% in line with how they have always interpreted the rule. So by that point of view it is the "correct" call.

But they do need to change the way that rule is written AND interpreted.

Holy shit, that's a catch too. Is the nfl retarded? I have been playing and watching football for 35 years. That is a catch. Possession with 2 feet down=catch.

Well shit. I guess me, and all my micro-dick, homosexual, mentally handicapped friends here were wrong about Jerry buying the Cowboys another Super Bowl. That sucks for us. Come on 85% of Sports SportsHoopla. Let's have a celebratory circle-jerk and pretend we aren't masturbating to the thoughts of us coming out of our mom's vaginas. We earned it this week by posting on this message board.

no because he is right. i hate dallas but dez is right. i dont blame him.

He never had the ball long enough for possession. He came down and the ball came loose. It's not rocket science.

I don't think that play would've even mattered. The Packers were already in field goal range when they ran the clock out. I doubt it would've been any different if Dallas had scored there. At most, the cowboys would have been up three. I think the packers could've scored a TD there.
