So basically what you are saying is that the runner up gets rewarded for losing the division by not having to play an extra game.

That is retarded.

It's very possible though. I think they would take 11-1 Auburn over 10-3 SEC champ Georgia

Most of us know this, and grudgingly accept it -- until it somehow screws our team.

I just hope that we get three really good games out of the selections and that none of the teams are Notre Dame or Ohio State.

BOOOOO!!!

Since they play each other at the end of the regular season, I highly doubt it unless a lot of other teams fuck up.

Let's just let The Authority pick the four teams ... to hell with the NCAA Committee, the AP Poll, the Coaches Poll or what anybody else says on this forum ... it will all just be retarded.

Problem solved ... right?

Why? Let's say Auburn destroys UGA in Athens. With no auto conference champion rule Auburn would be the better choice

So you are saying that the sec west loser gets rewarded for losing the division by not having to play an extra game and run the risk of losing and the winner of the division gets punished by having to play that extra game

That makes zero sense

Makes as much sense as a wild card team winning the Super Bowl

Except in the NFL, wild card teams are the ones who have to play an extra game, not the division winners.

^^^This^^^

Usually when you win a division, you are rewarded with a bye, not an extra game.

Your analogy only works if the NFL kept the conference winners out which they don't. They are the first to get in.

Is there any sport that requires you to win your division in order to win a championship? The idea is not that 'retarded'

Every sport that has playoffs all started this way.

Eventually they started to let more teams in but when playoffs first started, the conference winners were the only ones that made it.

Sending a loser of a division instead of a winner of a conference is definitely retarded.

How do you determine that though? Just by Guessing?

There are a bunch of factors to determine who's better. Not all one loss teams are created equal.

If you limit to just conference champions wouldn't you be doing the same determine the 4th and 5th teams?

Just give me the 4 best teams. I don't care if they're all from the B1G or the SEC.

Is there any other sport where a conference/division champion doesn't have a chance to win a title?

There is the Football Bowl Subdivision of NCAA Division I Football. Just aske the conference champions of the Mountain West, Sun Belt, Mid American, Conference USA, and American Athletic conferences. Their conference champions have no chances of winning a national championship.

The structure of college football is completely different than any other sport. Also add into that fact that there are only 4 spots, which is significantly less than any of other sports and by a large margin. College football conferences and divisions are not created equal like all professional sports are. And while college basketball isn't there are 68 teams, so that set up is completely different too. I mean hell there are 5 P5 conferences and 4 spots so what's the point in only taking conference champs when one is left out anyway?

Did I bring up the comparisons to other sports or was it Crimson King? Take up your complaints with him.

But there is no way to know who the 4 best are.

That is why each conference has a conference schedule and a conference championship game. To determine a conference champion. Then you know out that entire group, who the best is.

Then you take those winners and have them play the winners of the other conference who also just went through an entire season to determine who the best is.

Does this just make too much sense for you to grasp ?

If they went undefeated and beat some decent P5 teams OOC they would.
