I guess so.

Don't know why we make all these exceptions for the domers though.

I laughed at your joke...

Either way, I think the Doomers are good for about 4-5 losses once they get to some good teams on their sched. Clearly not next week.

Because they've always played a decent slate of P5 schools and fared good against them.

This season

Michigan (W)
Purdue
Syracuse
Stanford
North Carolina
Florida St
Arizona St
Northwestern
Louisville
Southern Cal

Does that look like a mid-major conference schedule to you?

Before you tell me how bad some of those teams are, think about how much of a fool you'll look.

lol...

I'm serious man. Read the old BCS bowl qualification rules and such. Note all the exceptions for ND. I just read the mid major definition, exception ND.

I guarantee going forward as the playoffs progress and grow there will be exceptions for ND.

Why the catering? Join a conference.

And sorry RA, not trying to hijack this thread. My initial query was sincere.

I wont talk about them anymore after this post.

I just dont get it. But this isn't the place. :suds:

Monee now moving heavily to BYU after yesterday. I don't think Virginia or Cal-Berkeley have the guns to keep up with them. They could slip up against some other team on the schedule, though.

Texas might have been down an entire defensive line, but they're still Texas and they have a defensive guru at HC. Cougs brought some wood.

If BYU stays undefeated and handles Virginia and Cal by double digits, they'll have a shot.

UCF, Nevada, and Boise St will add to their resume.

You are not hijacking the thread.

ND is not a mid-major, nor have they ever been. They deserve the exception if they are a one loss team.

No, some of those are really good teams, meaning they're probably in for a 7-5 or 8-4 season at best.

Oh, then forget it...no way they beat both UCF and Nevada. Boise might give them a good game, too.

I gotta start caring more about researching this kinda stuff.

Looking at the list. BYU seems the best bet, and really the only one with a shot IMO.

This first year will tell us more about the committee. They might not even consider a mid major at all, regardless of their record.

You throw BYU into the SEC, PAC or ACC and they will lose games. Probably the B1G and B12 as well.

Might be their mindset. mid-majors havent received much love over the years and I'd take some of those BSU and TCU teams over BYU any day.

So you think Texas IS that bad?

They're no Central Florida.

Seriously, I figured Texass would struggle this year and was in for about 5 losses due to breaking in a new coach, despite the roster talent. I like Strong a lot but he's learning a whole new league and the competition level is a step up from what he experienced at Louisville in the BE/AAC. I thought BYU would win last night but didn't think it would look as easy as the box score would indicate.

At this point, the only one that has zero chance in hell is Marshall.

Texas St. would be a close runner up with only having Illinois.

I thought Texas could lose last night (had them winning for 1 pt in pick'ems), but didn't think they'd get destroyed.

Not sure whats to laugh at.

Theyve (committee) said they would look at SOS.

You said teams with a realistic shot at the playoff.

None of those teams play a schedule worth a damn other than BYU.

Is the conversation switching to who has the best shot at going undefeated in the mid-majors?

The committee isnt going to consider Texas state with Illinois as their signature win. Undefeated or not.

If they do, they are really dumb.

oops. The lol was not put there intentionally. I must have hit the icon while I was eating pizza and typing one handed.

I just addressed Texas St.

You don't know what the committee will do, there's never been one. You do not know what anybody's records will be come December, unless of course you're Biff Tannen from Back to the Future II.

Thats true, we don't. We do have hints though, because of things they've said they would look at.

But I think some of the committee members are some of the same people that have said all along through the BCS era (error?) that sos matters, winning your conference matters, and then they jobbed (IMO) Oklahoma state.

So words are meaningless when these people speak.

Imagine that. A Husky fan telling the board that Stanford, Ohio St , Miami, FL, Oregon, Michigan St, LSU, Texas A&M, South Carolina aren't "worth a damn".

Notre Dame is a mid-major

And that Virginia, California, Wake Forest, Purdue, Syracuse, Kansas, Northwestern, Arkansas, Washington St, Arizona, Mississippi St, and Illinois are only considered quality opponents when P5 teams beat them.

I'll call it now. Every team that Notre Dame beats this year, will be labeled as "crummy" as evidenced by the fact that Notre Dame beat them. Oh - and you forgot to mention that Notre Dame plays Navy - which is all most people need to see to conclude that Notre Dame sucks.

Before you tell me how bad some of those teams are, think about how much of a fool you'll look.
Yeah - I thought about how stupid I would look, and I posted anyway.

Have they said they will "Only consider P5 teams"?

A mid-major can have a decent SOS, they can win their conference, and Oklahoma St lost to Iowa St.

If a 2 loss team had been selected over Oklahoma St, then they would have been "jobbed". But that wasn't the case.

I didn't include Navy because they are not P5.
