Arizona and St. Louis are fully capable of winning the division but SF and Seattle are still a bit ahead of them imo.

But it wouldn't shock me if Arizona or St. Louis won the division because unexpected things like that happen all the time in the NFL and you just never know what happens until the pads get strapped on and the games are for real.

I like this concept best.

Now maybe it's me, but I don't think the NFC's best record comes from the west....might not be the second best record either.....guess they better play the games that are for real. Injuries do tend to change things on a dime in this league

I don't think St. Louis finishes above third just because of the QB play. Bradford had a great rookie year but hasn't really progressed since then. That said, St. Louis will be in every game this season just because of their defense. I could easily see Arizona taking second and/or making the playoffs, but I just can't see them winning the division. SF and Seattle are just too deep.

Not trying to downplay St. Louis and Arizona by the way. Other than maybe Denver the six divisional games are probably the toughest on Seattle's schedule this year.

Understood

:agree: That was my point exactly.

So far this looks like a good prediction :yahoo:
Lots of NFCW football to be played.

Personally I hate how the scheduling for Seattle's 2nd half of the season played out, but it might produce some really good football if teams can get healthy. Going into week 12 Seattle will have played 1 division game. They have 5 division games in the last 6 weeks of the season.

12. Cardinals
13. @SF
14. @Philly
15. SF
16. @Cardinals
17. STL

1 or 2 of those games should have been spread out to the 1st half of the season IMO. Last year hosting SF week 2 then not playing them til the end of the season, then again in the NFCC game was perfect, and going into the 2014 season that rivalry was still supposed to be primetime football yet the NFL schedules those 2 games in 3 weeks? :noidea:

Anyway, my point is that it's still too early to even start thinking about who's taking the NFCW before more division games are played.

Oh no, I definitely agree... I'm not crowing anyone just yet, but it's always fun to look at old threads like this and find that you were right (up to that point). If we just take care of games at home then I like our chances to make my prediction come true.

Seattle is still definitely in it and anyone who counts them out should do so at their own risk.

Yes! This is the type of cockyness I was hoping to see from Zona. Too many of you guys are "one game at a time" type posts.... BOOORIING.

Start bumping threads baby lets get going.

If SF loses this week, you guys become public enemy number one!

You guys are up in the standings, but you have to play us twice.

At the begining of the year I didn't like how the schedule broke down. But how seattles been so injured, it works out that we may start getting healthy by the time the division games come along.

This isn't me being cocky. Trust me, if I wanted to boast or brag you'd damn well know it by now.

Seattle is still a playoff team, imo. I think AZ is in great shape to control their own destiny... that's the beauty of it. All Arizona needs to do is take 1/3 of those SF/SEA games and win 2 more home games and they're in.

SF is probably done especially if they lose this week. I called AZ-SEA in the playoffs at the beginning of the year. We aren't taking anyone lightly.

Come on guys, if you really think anybody other than Seattle or San Francisco is winning the NFC West you're kidding yourself. Arizona and St. Louis have great defenses, but they both had inconsistent QB play last season. Granted, Bradford was injured and Palmer did start playing better towards the end of the season. Still though, I can't see Arizona or St. Louis doing better than 3-3 in the division and that's probably not good enough to win it.

Well, I'll admit I was wrong. No other way to spin it than that, but anything could still happen.

At the time that was a reasonable assessment, but you, like many others, underestimated Carson Palmer. He played well last year and looks pretty solid this year too despite his injury that set him back for a few weeks.

I was skeptical about him when he arrived, but he has rejuvenated his career here.

I would more say that the defenses ability to bounce back after losing big names is the real key. How many games did Stanton win at qb? 3?

Yeah that too. A lot of guys stepped up and helped fill the void left by D-Wash's suspension, Dockett's injury and Dansby's departure.

Stanton went 2-1 by beating the Giants in New York and then beating San Fran. We had a bye the next week and then played Denver on the road and he got a concussion so didn't play the entire game and we were stuck with our third string rookie QB so I don't really put that loss on him.

Basically we were without Palmer for 4 weeks but one of them was a bye.

As a Cardinal fan, there is nothing shocking about taking the one game at a time approach. Our past has created many skeptical fans. If and when we get to 9 wins, I, for one, will ratchet it up a notch. At this point, 7 wins does nothing for me especially when we have only played one division game.

I will make one (not so bold) prediction. SF is dead. I don't think they beat New Orleans at home. If they lose that game, they will have to overcome too many teams to make the playoffs.

I really thought losing Karlos Dansby was going to affect Arizona this year. Add the injuries to key positions like QB early in the year and it's amazing how well they've survived it all.

Good coaching will do that.

Another thing they're better than Seattle at.

STL has more upside than ARI but has more things that could go wrong than just about any team in the NFL. SF has more upside than STL and ARI but more things that can go wrong than ARI. No point in trying to guess between the other 3 really
I'll stand by this in a thread was started before Sam Bradford went down.

Should we bump this when Seattle wins the division? I must admit I had no idea how bad Seattle's locker room was, though

I saw a shocking stat somewhere. This is the first time the Cardinals have had a winning record against the NFC East teams in something like 70 years.
