What connections does Jay Z have with the NBA?

Does he own a team?

Does he represent anyone in the business? - I think someone said he is a certified agent?

The issue I see is because of his personal views - Donald's Sterling is now a detriment to the NBA. Jay Z isn't and neither is Larry Johnson to my knowledge. If you are saying that all of the millions of fans that demanding that he Sterling be removed - ARE WRONG - FINE - GO TELL THEM THAT AND SEE HOW IT WORKS.

I'm not saying there is no double standard - We all know there is, but we do choose our battles and there is no battle with Jay or Johnson because to my knowledge they are not part of the NBA and Sterling is not only part of the NBA, but a significant part of it

Once again, I get it.

"Sterling is a racist and I hope he dies of cancer soon."

"Jay-Z and Larry Johnson might be racists, but... [insert excuse here]"

At least you're not pretending to be logical or objective, TLF.

We heard worse from Jeremiah Wright when Obama was running for office the first time and yet the majority still voted for Obama in spite of his past association with the Racist. So if you ask me - I think most people period have a double standard and believe what they want to. Some people don't know how to express themselves in an educated manner and I think that is a possibility with both of those knuckleheads, but they are not in piviotal areas in the NBA that threatens it's future either. Sterling is - I think that is the biggest difference.

And again - I want to point out that same article says Carmelo Anthony wears one of those medallions - why hasn't anything been said about him

This is what I have been asking for days. This is where the double-standard lies. Why are they not considered black eyes(no pun intended) on the NBA?

To me, it is ostensibly cognitive dissonance.

Did you know of the fpn prior to the wearing and/or know he was wearing it prior to somebody posting it on here...? Now it's the battle cry... Talk about sheep...:noidea:

So him bringing attention to a racist group is a good thing?

Unc,

As for JayZ... He is at times a dumbass... He tries to be "different" or "cutting edge"... Not sure if you've heard he was rumored to be part of the illuminati... His "occupy every street" during the wallstreet thing... So with his statement of "a little bit" and the statement of one of the heads of the fpn tell me he is definitely not a part of it... But instead made a dumbass fashion statement... I've heard of the fpn prior to this but didn't know they had any symbol or what not... Had it not been for that crackpot right wing website nobody in here with this "anger" would have even known JayZ owned the medallion... So again if I'm wrong and he thinks White people are devils, I apologize to all of you who are right and myself for being half devil and not knowing it... Irony is Samoans (which I'm half) believe we are descendants of god as well... Which would make me half god half devil... :omg:

He also dons the "Do what thy wilt" credo, which is taken directly from Thelema by Aleister Crowley. King of the the occult and sex magik.

But controversy just makes him more money.

I know that anybody can be racist... My point was as Montsho was, there is no proof only assumption... Where as Sterling was caught red handed... You can assume JayZ was supporting racism and you can assume LJ was saying to exclude every other race... But neither are recorded saying such things, and so you can't factually say they are being racially divisive... You can feel they are/were but somebody else can feel different... There is no middle ground for Sterling so the situations are completely different...

My issue with what Larry Johnson said is the "own league" part of it. That, to me, indicates he wants blacks to have their own league that is separate from the NBA. Perhaps he just means a league that is run and owned by black people but still includes other races, but he has not clarified that to my knowledge.

It seems to me that if he simply meant more black owners, then why not say that the NBA needs more black owners or black people in higher positions within the league? Why not call for a black commissioner? More black GM's? More black head coaches?

Perhaps I'm off base, but it seems to me that there are a lot of other directions that he could have gone without getting into the "own league" aspect.

Sterling is a bigot, but reveling in his demise is gross as well.

They are part of the nba but they are not a detriment to the future of the league, which is why nothing is going to come of it from the nba. If mainstream media took a story and made it national news, or there was a voice recording of them saying something inappropriate that would be detrimental to the nba they would be dealt with as well, imo.

...Which is probably directly correlated to why he was fired....I just find a double-standard, particulary in the media, but within most of us as well.

Maybe it's white-guilt, maybe racism is warranted from some races perspective....but none of it is helping the problem, only creating greater division.

If I wished cancer and death on Jay-Z or Larry Johnson, there'd be total outrage from the NBA board. TLF does it to Sterling? Fucking CRICKETS! :L

Ever heard of the saying, "Any publicity is good publicity"?

You continue to equate fpn with the kkk... The kkk was organized specifically to terrorize and murder people of another race... The fpn is a religious group... So a better analogy would be, would I be outraged if an NBA executive or sports agent wore a crucifix, since I'm sure we can agree there is racism and bigotry in Christanity... My answer is no...:noidea:

How many wars and deaths were from a push for a certain religion? Religion may not have been organized for the simple fact to hate/kill another X, however its hands are far from clean. Like left field far.... Way over there....

He could have gone many ways I agree... There have been discussions on more Black every position... Yet there is not much progress... His frustration with the lack of that diversity is more on display than anything IMO, which leads to the thought if we owned our own this wouldn't happen... But I think it's safe to say no league start up will overtake the NBA at this point and if he's saying exclusion of any kind including ownership he's wrong and should be called on it... To my knowledge he hasn't said exclusion...
