During the BCS era, playing a FCS didn't hurt or help. The BCS wouldn't accept a computer ranking system that didn't omit FCS games from the formula for FBS teams.

Nobody knows what will happen in the future, as a committee will make the decision.

Oddly it's affect has been diminished over the years. The influence of SOS and computers was slowly eroded during the BCS years in favor of human judgement. Amazing people believe ESPN is running things

Well yes, I agree. But I'd much rather have just a "ho-hum" win over a team and then a "ho-hum" loss to them later than trade blow outs...especially if the one against my team is in a nationally televised bowl game.
