pardon me word police^^^ how bout "a good chunk of em"?

I'd say 30 plus years of not having a shitty QB is long enough to forget what they are like.

I think it's a good signing. There are a few QB's I'd take over Jay but nowhere near 19.

Brady
Rodgers
Peyton
Brees
Newton
Luck
Ben

I put him in the same class as:

Romo
Rivers
Stafford
Wilson
RGIII
Kaepernick
Ryan
Flacco

And better than the rest of the QB's in the league.

Ryan & Romo are the only ones he listed that can make that argument. The others, not so much. I would add Kap & Wilson to his list as well.

Russell Wilson has more wins in his first two seasons than any QB in NFL history. Only one QB has more touchdown passes than Russell Wilson in their first two seasons, Dan Marino.

Since Wilson entered the NFL:
Wilson's record: 24-8
Cutler's record: 15-11

Wilson: 2 playoff appearances
Cutler: 0 playoff appearances

Wilson: 63.6% Completion percentage
Cutler: 60.7% Completion percentage

Wilson: 52 touchdown passes
Cutler: 38 touchdown passes

Wilson: 19 interceptions
Cutler: 26 interceptions

Wilson: 6475 yards
Cutler: 5654 yards

Wilson: 100.6 QB rating
Cutler: 84.9 QB rating

I don't think there is anything that Cutler has done better than Wilson in the past 2 years.

Its a team game not just the QB. The Seahawks defense vs the Bears defense boy I wonder.

This is a QB league with a shortage of good QB(s) at the moment. The bears have no choice but to resign Cutler. And resigning him now in fiscal 2013 before he hits FA is the best they could do.

RG3 has not played enough to even warrant comparison. Talk to me in 8 years.

I'm not a big stats guy...they fail to tell the whole tale.

This is a team game...the ultimate team game, in fact.

I'd still take Cutty over em.

Ryan and Flacco had good to great teams around em.

Romo is the only one with a big enough resume to even warrant comparison.

1. RG3 has loads of talent, tons more than Cutler. In 8 years Cutler will be a free agent or have retired while RG3 is a star.
2. You're not a big stats guy because it fails to prove your point. I gave you mountains of evidence that they are all better QBs than Cutler and you respond with "I don't believe in evidence". Your only defense of Cutler is that you believe his stats and win loss record is irrelevant.
3. It is a team game. Cutler has one of the best WR tandems in the NFL, a great TE and a great running back. He has all the keys on offense to do his job to the best of his ability. Freaking Josh McCown looked better than Cutler.
4. So since Ryan and Flacco have better teams around them it makes them worse QBs? That makes zero sense.
5. And Romo has out performed Cutler in every measurable statistic.

A good chunk? There are more packer fans on the planet over 35 than under 35, hell there are tons of senior citizens that are packer fans. The team has been around forever, WTF are you talking about!?

this year.

This season is the first year they put on o-line on the field that didn't resemble matadors trying to avoid the bull. This season also marks Jeffrey's emergence and first full season, as he missed most of last years campaign. TE was also signed this year.

Put Ryan and Flacco behind that line from the last 4 years, and see how they fair.

Yes, your teammates, coaching, timing, situation...all play a role in those stats.

edit: Also, the Bears finished the season No. 2, behind Denver in points per game, so it seems the O did ok?

Ok...tell me more about your QB woes from the 60's...that will be totally relevant to the discussion at hand.

Whether you want to admit it or not, Wilson's success stems from the team not needing him to carry it. The Seahawks are a run team first with the best defense in the league. That masks a lot of deficiencies & also makes a QB look better than he is. If you ask him to throw 35+ times a game while sitting in a pocket, his numbers would be drastically different. His success is a product of his legs & his team.

Next thing you will tell me is that Alex Smith is a great QB

Russell Wilson has been sacked 77 times in his past 800 pass attempts and he is one of the more elusive QBs in the NFL. It is difficult to count the amount of sacks that he has evaded. Wilson arguably has one of the worst pass blocking offensive lines in the NFL and has succeeded.

Flacco and Ryan have still had a lot more success than Jay Cutler. You can play what if all you want, fact is that those two have still had much better careers than Jay Cutler. They also stay healthy, Cutler does not.

I swear, some of you mother fuckers dont watch Wilson play. Yes his team is good and it helps his cause. But he makes every throw, reads défenses very well and makes plays when his team needs them most. I most defenitely would not trade him for Cutler.

He succeeds because much of the time his legs allow him to take advantage of broken plays. He benefits from having a great team around him that puts him in position to make the simple plays. And he does make the simple plays. But when playing against a good defense that can stop the run, he is an average QB.

Of course you wouldn't trade him for Cutler. Money & team style dictate that decision. But that doesn't mean he is much better than him.

As opposed to QBs who play their best against great défenses?

Wilson is better than cutler. But when most of your pass attempts are out of play action you will get sacked more. You'll also have many more easy throws and open receivers. That doesn't mean his line can't pass block; it's a trade off of their offense forcing people to sell out on the run.
