I just hope they're dumb enough to over spend so they are strapped and can't fix their defense.

I imagine that they did the extension now in the 2013 fiscal year so that it would free up more cap space in 2014 & beyond.

I am not surprised by this. There is a lack of good QB(s) in the NFL right now. Had he hit the market, there would be at least 5 teams clamoring for him & possibly more. Guaranteed money is the key here. I doubt it will be as high as some of the previous QB extensions we have seen over the last couple of seasons.

I'd take Tony Romo over Jay Cutler any day. I'd also take the Bears defense, HB and WRs over the Cowboys.

Bears finished with the worst D in Chicago Bears history.

That's a looong ass time.

Our D was every bit as bad as Dallas'.

Cutler is average at best IMO.

I'd take the following QBs over Cutler:
Peyton Manning
Drew Brees
Matt Stafford
Matt Ryan
Philip Rivers
Tom Brady
Andy Dalton
Ben Roethlisberger
Ryan Tannehill
Joe Flacco
Tony Romo
Andrew Luck
Cam Newton
Russell Wilson
Aaron Rodgers
Alex Smith
RG3
Colin Kaepernick
Nick Foles

19 QBs better than Jay Cutler. That would actually make him below average.

1 playoff appearance in 5 years with the Bears and only played 16 games once in the past 5 years.

8 years in the NFL and 1 playoff win.

He's not a bad QB, but worthy of a 7 year deal? Not at all.

Id worry about Harvin and his contract before Cutler's if I were a Seahawks fan. That contract not looking so good.

Yes Bear's have been known for stout D's for as long as i can remember so odd seeing them down there.

They were both pretty bad but I would still take the players on the Bears D over the players on the Cowboys D. I think the Bears D will rebound and look better next year, the Cowboys not so much.

Try not to get so defensive. This thread is not about the Seahawks or Harvin. It is about Cutler. If you want to discuss something Seahawks or Harvin related create a thread on it or head over to the Seahawks board. I'm not trying to trash Cutler or the Bears, I'm just giving my opinion.

That is my point. The NFL is devoid of good QB(s). Even that list is half filled with average to above average QB(s). Even if you consider him to be below average, he is still light years ahead of anyone left off that list. Nearly half the league is searching for a franchise QB. If you don't think at least 5 teams wouldn't throw large stacks of money his way, you are mistaken.

Says you.

RG3 is shit.
Alex Smith? um, no.
Matt Ryan. overrated
Stafford. Nope
Tanny, Flacco and Romo. You can honestly say that they are noticeably better than Cutler?

This is why it was smart of the Bears to get the deal done as quick as they did.
