Your Vote for Dark horse Team this year

Which teams from the East and West are most likely to be dark horse teams getting into the playoffs:

East: Islanders

I think they will exceed expectations this year. Every game I've seen they seem to be clicking offensively and they don't have any quit in them, which is always a good sign

West: Dallas

The West is so competitive every year that I always have a hard time predicting how things will fall into place by playoff time. I think Dallas, with budget constraints and all, have turned heads already this season and like the Isles, they seem to be able to sustain pressure for a full 60 minutes each night.

The west is difficult to pick a darkhorse, because almost every team has some sort of shot to be in the playoffs. Dallas is the easy choice based on what they've done so far. I'm going to go with the Preds. I'm not sure if they qualify as a darkhorse, but for some reason every year people forget about them and they do nothing but be a playoff team almost every year.

I've already commented on Atlanta being a playoff team (although I really think you gotta watch out for Florida this year too).

In the west I'll go with Columbus seeing as so far Mason is looking more like the rookie verson and not the sophomore version.

Barry Trotz is the reason i will pick the Preds out of the West. All that guy does is run darkhorse teams. There are indeed Forrest's box of chocolates. Ya just never know what you're gonna get.

I think the Blues are definitely "in it to win it" this year. If I were a fan of the team I would be pretty disappointed if they didn't at least get the 8th spot.

If you were to poll most people regarding the top 4 teams in the West, they would probably say (in no particular order) Detroit, Chicago, San Jose, and Vancouver.

That along with the Kings recent playoff success and I'm comfortable with my dark horse designation.

Edit: Okay my bad, reading comprehension issues (getting into the playoffs) - Missed that part.

/Doughty left last night's game though, not sure on the severity of the injury.

I don't see the Kings as a darkhorse. They were a solid playoff team last year.

My pick for the West is DALLAS.

Their biggest issue right now is the PK. Which is correctable. If Lehtonen stays healthy I believe they're a playoff team.

My pick for the East is ATLANTA.

The four new faces from Chicago have had a major impact on this team. Maybe not on the scoresheet but from a mental aspect. The attitude in Atlanta has changed. They're learning how to win. Just ask the Caps.

BTW I wouldn't consider The Preds a dark horse team seeing as year after year they are very competitive and battling for a lower playoff spot. JMO.
