there is always the "unspeakable" that no one will want to hear......

With the way Williams has played thus far ( everyone can agree he has outplayed what Dez did his rookie year at this point)

Dez keeps acting like a cry bitch ..... he becomes our Roy Williams .... opposite side of the scenario

I'll go out on a limb and declare that the reason TW is playing so well is the double coverage on Dez. TW does not scare defenses enough to make them play honest.

I'll go out on a limb and say you are wrong.

This is the kid that made RG3 the #2 pick.

Same questions about him were the same questions that Rice had..... could he perform the same against top talent....
Cowboys ( rookie) record for consecutive games with a TD

I think he is a rookie and learning ..... but I think he is the real deal

I've been wrong before. But I don't think you can deny the attention Dez gets has helped Williams. I hope he turns out to be a great WR. I don't see him as a true #1 but along with Dez they can make a great tandom that has the ability to be considered the best set of WR's in the NFL.

I've seen enough of this whole act and scene. IMO I feel its time to blow things up, take our lumps for a couple years and start over with the young decent players we have now. Its time for Spencer, Hatcher, Austin, Witten, Ware and Romo to all go.

The problem is, their contracts make your idea completely impossible. The cap hit will cripple this team more than it already is. Then after all the dead money clears, Jerry will be free to overwork the free agency market again and we'll be right back in the same boat.

So your saying there is no real way out of this mess. Even if we trade?

yeah ... Now I'm not saying he is Jerry Rice ( Only an idiot would) .... but rice had and pretty damn good crowd around him his rookie year to take pressure off of him as well ......

And Dez had a pretty damn good crowd around him his rookie year as well.....

In fact Dez has had a pretty damn good crowd around him every year.........

The comparisons to Johnson? A fucking joke.... Johnson has had shit around him .... he's a one man offensive beast

Give Johnson Witten ... and take your choice Williams or Austin ....

Dez isnt even in the league of Johnson ... take it for what you want ....

over hype is over hype ..... talent of a god brain of a caveman

and I'd trade him ....... and wouldnt look back

3 things missing in correcting the cap issues that you guys aren't mentioning.

1. You will need to clear even more space to sign rookies.
2. You can't expect players to automatically restructure.
3. I could be wrong but superstars like Dez wont usually go into their last year of a contract for 3 million while risk losing 75 million if they get hurt. He could very well be advised by his agent to not risk his financial future for 3 million bucks. Especially when he has a 75+ million dollar contract on the line.

You can compare Williams's 1st season with Dez's. First of all he got injured mid way through the season. Plus Dez was so much more dynamic as a player maker I still think Dez was better. I am happy Williams has played well even though he has tapered off just a bit lately, but you better believe much of the success Williams is having is because of the coverage is being rolled to Dez's side of the ball. Good info regarding the cap. I future sounds pretty bleak if we don't hit on a few players in a major way in the next to drafts.

If you trade or cut a player the remainder of his bonus hit the cap immediately. Now you can cut a player post June 1st and the bonus is spread over two years. Even though a player gets paid his whole bonus when he signs it is spread out over the length of the contract or 5 years. whatever is shortest. Your idea may be an option in 2016 or 17 unless more contract get renegotiated with additional bonuses. So yes our hand are tied at the moment. IMO our best option is try to get through the next 4 years with as little new contracts for current players as possible and let the cap clear itself up and rebuild in 2017 or 18.

I don't like our options. Don't want to post what I am thinking at the moment.

I think the big elephant in the room is at some point this year or next you have to fix this DL but I think we need to go and get another S and I know we just signed Romo but QB either this year or next has to be an early concern in the draft. The truth is this team is like Swiss cheese on both sides of the ball. WE need OL, DL, QB, S, and CB help. If we go All Defense this draft I would be okay with it being this is the worst defense the Cowboys have ever had against the pass.

But the good new is Philly is reported to be 20 million under. But take that with a grain of salt. Top teams are NEVER built via FA. We will take that money to redo rookie contracts and sign young good players to new deals to make sure they never have salary cap issues, which they never do. THe trick is to restructure good players in there 2nd or 3rd year of a 5 year contract. THe players are willing to do it because they get there 10 to 15 guaranteed early yet are under paid in their prime. Over pay them early and under pay them when they are in there 5th, 6th, 7th year. Dallas should have redone Dezs contract 2 years ago and not be stuck with a 75million dollar bill to keep him.

I never compared Dez to CJ. It's a mismatch not in our favor. Im saying Dez and Williams have the capability to be the best WR pair in the NFL. Now if Detroit finds a better #2 to pair with CJ theyed jump to the top. Also I never said I wouldn't trade Dez. Let someone offer a Roy Williams deal and I'm on board.

I for one, don't really give a shit about Phillies cap situation.

I agree with you Manster clean up the cap over the next 3/4 yrs even if that means we suck for that entire span. Where you and Most would likely disagree with me is to clean house now and take the hit and hope to be a major player in FA's in 3 yrs and keeping our young core. Hopefully the only players on this team in 2017 will be Lee, Dez, Smith, Wilcox, Fredrick, and Claiborne. Every one else is fair game. Wish we could make some trades but we don't have many trade-able players IMO

Funny, that's the same way I feel about Witten and Ware. I'd trade them now and never look back. Throw in Murray, hatcher, Austin and Spencer as well and lets get tough in the trenches.

Blue Jersey I don't disagree with you when it come to trading Ware or Witten for the right price. I do however disagree with you on your general opinion of Ware. Trust me if Denver or someone like Carolina called Jerry and said hey we will give up a 1st and a 2nd for either player I would hope he would personally deliver them there in his private let.
